Custom Hearse Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Twice now I've tried to use the decals from 2 different kits (the stripes from the '74 Daisy's Road Runner, and the Peterbilt 352 Pacemaker), and both sets cracked and fell apart. They feel like they're brittle and stiff and they won't bend around small bumps and bends. Does anyone else have problems like this?
pack rat Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) I've used their decals on about twenty builds over the last five years and have never had this problem. A problem unique to those particular kits perhaps? Have you contacted Round2? Edited September 30, 2013 by pack rat
slusher Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 l have had problems with thier decals before. It does seem to very from kit to kit. They do not tend to have a very good shelf life. l have never tried to get any replacement decals from them.
Skydime Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) I haven't had this problem yet but, not to say I won't. I don't have one but, I wander if one of those bag sealer things would help keep decals from deteriorating so fast. I may not be very clear but, I am talking about the ones that you buy freezer bags for and they vaccum seal them for long term storage. Edited September 30, 2013 by Skydime

The '79 Monte Carlo, '63/4 Avanti, and multiple Zingers! kits I purchased new and sealed all had decal sheets which were heat sealed in a plastic bag.
cobraman Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 When in doubt coat the decals prior to using them.
lordairgtar Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Were these older kits, or the newer releases?
MAGNUM4342 Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) Round2 has been having trouble with decals since before becoming R2. They use more than one company to produce their decals. Step one- No matter the kit, ALWAYS clear coat their decals. Step two- Contact them and they will send you a replacement. http://round2models.com/replacement/ They've also experienced this recently with both scales of their Batmobile kits.
