Porscheman Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) This started out as a original AMT 64 kit that I purchased on ebay. I primed the body in Tamiya's Maroon and sprayed Tamiya's Flesh Flat to match the T Bird Samoan Coral pain and then 4 coats of Testors Wet Look Clear. The kit I purchase came with all new chrome by the Modelhaus. The interior was paint Tamiya's White Primer with black carpeting and BMF accents. I'm a collector of vintage kits and I build them. Let me know what you think. Al Edited October 2, 2013 by Porscheman
peekay Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Very nice, love the colour.I prefer te 64 roof shape to that of the 66.
Porscheman Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Thanks guys. I wanted to paint it one of the rarer colors and according to a Thunderbird web site, this is the rarest. Al
sjordan2 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 A very common color in the 60s, though usually with a slightly yellower edge, and a great idea for your beautiful build.
slusher Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Great looking build Al. l was not aware that was a rare color. You did an awsume job..
Porscheman Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Great looking build Al. l was not aware that was a rare color. You did an awsume job.. I didn't know that either Carl. But according to Ford Salmon Color was the least sold color for the 64 T Bird. Who knew
High octane Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 What do I think? I think that you should send it to me for my shelf. LOL! Very nice job on the "Bird" and great color choice.
KevinMoparFord Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Color is actually called Samoan Coral. If you got on a Ford, and it is rare on that, it was called Bittersweet. Mercury had it as well, ver uncommon. Is usually a little more pink to it. Here is a link to some cars taht color. http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0PDoQ2zl0xSbhUAM_qjzbkF;_ylu=X3oDMTBxbGdlMTFzBHNlYwNmcC1hdHRyaWIEc2xrA3ZpZXdtb3Jl?p=1964+samoan+coral+thunderbird

My model looks lighter because the photo's were talken in the sun. It's actually pretty close, especially since I used rattle cans to paint it.
realgone58 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Great color choice, on a beautiful build! I plan to do my '64 Merc in Bittersweet. A buddy of mine had a 1:1. It was rare on the Mercs too.
PappyD340 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Very NICE build there Al, I like that color, looks good on that bird!!
Porscheman Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Thanks again everyone. This color is starting to grow on me Al
