zenrat Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 This is box stock apart from plug wires and mods to the rear axle to get the tyres to clear the bodywork. I washed the chrome with a darker than usual wash in an attempt to do something a bit different to go with the satin paint. It's given it a sort of used but not been cleaned look without going to the lengths of weathering like a military builder. Paint is blue from Zero Paints (seriously, that's what they call it - Blue similar to TS something or other).
DrewCfromSC Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 very realistic looking. Ive never tried wash before but might give it a try after seeing your results. Thanks for posting. Drew
gtx6970 Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Really nice. Well done I built one of these last year. and I must say I was very pleased with how well it went together and the finished product.
slusher Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Super looking build Fred, l like the satin finish. Great looking interior...
Burnout Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Very nice build of a great kit. Interior is especially nice.
High octane Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Beautiful job on that Poncho and excellent work on that tri-toned interior.
Lunajammer Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 ... similar to TS something or other). My favorite Tamiya color. It's always so close. Looks great Fred. But wasn't there a risk of silvering on the decals putting it over satin?
zenrat Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 Thanks folks. Mike - the decals are actually under the satin clear. It was going to be shiny but due to a number of reasons (the weather, impatience, incompetence etc) the gloss 2 pack clear ended up looking not very good (he said not swearing). So I decaled it and then shot it with acrylic satin clear. I'll let you into a secret. If you see one of my builds with satin paint it generally means I stuffed the gloss clear...
