That's looking good. That thing must have been a handful.

Chuck, you have a Vega. I had one and i think the wheelbase was about 97/99 inches. What's the wheelbase on the Colt?

Any history on the car? I know Don Carlton was running under the Rod Shop banner with a Colt. This is a car I've never seen.

Don was driving a Rod Shop car. I'm pretty sure it was the long wheelbase car that was featured in Car Craft. It was an altered and featured a wind shield that cam out when you removed the hood.

Sox & Martin also had a P/S Colt but didn't keep it long before selling it. Many Colts crashed and they were eventually banned by the NHRA for P/S class though I'm not sure if it was due to their poor safety record.

The following link is an article on the Don Carlton and towards the end of the article it describes his unfortunate end. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/thehistoryof/mopp_0605_drag_racing_history/viewall.html

The Colts were never legal for NHRA Pro Stock. IHRA allowed them. Notice pic at top of page it is a B/Altered

Looks great Chuck! Can't wait to see the decals coming.

If you believe that Mopar Missle photo is real though I have some swamp land in Florida for ya!

The Dodge Colt wheelbase was too short for NHRA to run with the hemi. I believe they could have run with a small block but Chrysler didn't have an engine that would produce the same horsepower per cubic inch as either the Ford Cleveland 351 or the small block Chevy.
