Harry P. Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Thanks to forum member Matt Bacon for this one. Remember, don't post any hints or answers here. PM me with specific year, make and model. The answer: 2004 Mitsuoka Nouera
62rebel Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 a styling exercise from the School For The Blind?
PappyD340 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Looks like a spider with all those eyes up front!!
Harry P. Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Looks like this one was a little too hard... only six of you got it right! The car is a 2004 Mitsuoka Nouera. http://www.tradecarview.com/specifications/mitsuoka/nouera/20st_4wd_at_2.0/26805/ Who got it right: wisdonm Chris R W-409 Badluck 13 MikeMc sjordan2
mikemodeler Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Looks like it is built off of the Nissan Sentra platform. Ugly front end, but then what would you expect from the company that brought you the Juke?
slusher Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 l had no ldea where to even start on this one Harry...
Harry P. Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 l had no ldea where to even start on this one Harry... My rule of thumb... if it's really ugly, start looking for Japanese cars!
sjordan2 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 It's built on the Honda Accord platform (from Wikipedia: "The Nouera was the first non-keicar made by Mitsuoka that was not based on a Nissan model. At this time Nissan's main competitor with the Accord (the Primera) had unusually futuristic styling; a Mitsuoka version of the contemporary Primera may have been too difficult to style harmoniously.")The only way I found it was to look for copycat cars (it looks like a rip-off of a Jaguar S-Type), which led to a Jalopnik page showing other styling plagiarism, which led to Mitsuoka, which has ripped off a multitude of British designs.
Harry P. Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 ...which led to Mitsuoka, which has ripped off a multitude of British designs. And very badly at that.
Matt Bacon Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 ...you know what? The way I found it in the first place was a Google Image search for "Chrysler 300 steering wheel", which I think probably went to that same Jalopnik blog page. Of course, in the image search results page, you have no idea why it's been returned so, I hit "visit page" because I was curious about how something so NOT what I'd searched for could appear in the results... And as soon as I saw it, I thought of Harry... and the rest of you guys! bestest, M.
62rebel Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 it even looks like they tried tossing in a little bit of Edsel at the last minute, hoping the soup would turn out better. well; it didn't work. it simply looks like what it is, a cheap Chinese knockoff of a substandard design cribbed from styling cues found "unique" by present-day would-be geniuses trying to be Harry Lyons.

A cheap Chinese knock-off done by a Japanese company?
