rv1963 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I got this one finished, over all I am pretty happy with the results even if it's not close to perfect. I am still working on taking better photos and I think these are a little better. All comments welcome.
Speedfreak Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Nice looking car! Any issues with the kit during assembly?
rv1963 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) Thanks, yes there are several 1. large gaps between the chassis and body that I filled in, this will not effect the construction just the looks, 2. there are several gaps between the intake manifold and the heads and the front timing cover and the heads don't fit to good. 3. the seat is to small and out of scale again a looks thing. rv1963 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks Chris, I wish it was, take a closer look at the pics see if you can spot the one huge flaw, no hints you have to find it yourself, lol.
Harry P. Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 take a closer look at the pics see if you can spot the one huge flaw, no hints you have to find it yourself, lol. Well, for one thing there's no way for the chute to be opened.
rv1963 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks for all the nice comments guys. The flaw may or may not be my fault, notice you can see the decal film not shore how that happened. I prepped the paint pretty good by buffing down to 12k grit sanding pad which left a nice smooth surface, I than wiped the body down with a damp paper towel and applied my decals with setting solution, I let the decals dry over night for over 12 hours and cleared the body the next day. To bad this happened with the decals, besides that I am happy with the way it turned out.
Sixties Sam Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 It looks good to me! Very nice work! Decals can be a real pain sometimes. Sam

I think that maybe the problem is that the surface of the decals reflect light differently than the surface of the paint. Maybe a few more coats of clear would have evened things out and solved the problem.
rv1963 Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks Harry, the extra coats of clear may have helped I didn't think of that, also next time I will trim as much of the film off as I can this way there will be very little to show up.
peekay Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Not my genre but you did a great job. Very crisp foil.
Shardik Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 WOW! That is one tough looking car. Despite the shortcomings of the kit, you've realy captured the sense of power. Other than the decal film showing through, the finish looks great. You handled the gaps between the chassis and body flawlesly. One small criticism, though: You scuffed the slicks very realisticly, but the front tires are still shiny. I doubt it spends all its time with the front end in the air (just 90%).
rv1963 Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Thanks for all the comments guys, I did sand those front wheels a little but you are correct they are way to shiny.
Dinky Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Very nice, I love the color combi body and decals.
Mike 1017 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 FANTASTIC BUILD. Your pictures are perfect. You can try some sort of background diorama or take some outside pictures on a sunny day.
