Ok, so I'm trying yo "un-glue" a glue bomb I picked up on eBay. I started with Purple Power, which usually does the trick. No dice. I then tried the freezer method , which got a few of the plated parts off, but no luck anywhere else. Just for reference , it soaked in Purple Power for approximately 72 hrs and was in the freezer every bit of 24. I would use brake fluid at this point but there are a few "glass" pieces left on the body ( it's a "70's" style van ) and I don't want to craze the clear plastic. I have no experience using Easy-Off, other than I know for a fact it'll eat the blueing off of an M-16A2 service rifle ( ask me how I know, no I wasn't the one that did it ) . So , I'm at an impasse here gents, any and all suggestions are welcome..

Dan, how 'together' is this model. You said it was a 1970s van. Is the body, interior and chassis still together? Or do you have a body that you're trying to get well glued glass out of?

You did the main things that usually work. Now it may be brute force and grinding to get it apart. Sometimes you may be able to score a glue joint with an exacto blade and carefully pry it apart at that point. I've also reached in through wheel wells and grabbed screw posts with wire cutters. And I've also looked at what parts can be left intact in my rebuild. For instance, I've had glass glued in so well that it was easier to just mask it off for paint than to get it out. I've had chrome parts that were on so good, I stripped them with the body and then just BMFed them in place.

Tom,

To give you a little more info, it's a '78 issue Revell "Convoy Van" Over all it's in remarkable condition, the decals are cherry, although I will for sure be spraying them before use. I think you are right about the cutting and grinding. The body is off the frame, the floor pan it about 99% off the chassis. The interior is holding fast tho. Tail lights are stuck in place, I'm guessing forever ! The rear porthole windows aren't letting go as well as the 2 sunroofs .. I guess it's time to get creative ....

tail lights, port holes and sun roofs might be candidates to leave in place and mask off for paint.

That's the Maaco method! LOL!

Wish I could offer some advice but you have tried all the tricks I know of.

Lightly soap the freezer water, and keep tossing it back in there. It might take a couple of rounds to get it to get lose enough to be able to get things apart. No guarantee it will ever break them lose.

Or like others have mentioned the sure-fire method would be to mask off around the parts in question.
