Joker Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Very cool work Richard...I'm really enjoying your build skills.
crazyrichard Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 thnx thnx ! this is the start of the antlers , just a rough base where i can build the shape on , made from revell 32 ford exhaust pipes lol gave the cooler some chrome , put some legs under it and redid the logos so they where a tad better to read (les wheathered)
crazyrichard Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 styrene antlers ? lol after some sanding , primer and a wash the base plate will get some paint later now my goal is to make a wooden rocking chair ........
Tom Geiger Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Looking great! I think the Coke cooler looks much better with legs. Antlers made from exhaust parts? Here in the US there is a chain called Meineke Mufflers, and a lot of the stores have the Meineke Man out front, made from exhaust parts. So why not antlers!
crazyrichard Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 haha lol tom thats cool , but .. whell my antlers where ment to not look like exhaust parts so i hope they dont look like that anymore to you hahaha i redid the no smoking sign .. and on the left you see a very rough start on the garage service area i used mostly the worst scrap stuff i could pcik out of the wood box , the slanted part was a old attic part i made for the garage back then , used some paint stirrers and a piece of crappy wood .. just needs to be a stirdy base to build on looks at this point dont matter the roof is the same angle as the bog roof and will get the same shingles at first the garage was twice as wide but something broke when i layed the base .. afterwards i'm glad because its just about right now .. now i have some room beside it for a wooden fence and a grass part where i will put some abandoned cars on door wise i will make 2 big wooden barn-like doors for the garage
crazyrichard Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 just building , no plan , box of wood and BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH on my lap and just build made round pillars on the corners , that fits with the round struts of the front roof put some wood on the sides used the pick-up for size thats a pretty big model in comparison to the hotrods , so if that just fits its good imo bed cover off and load some wood ? lol like said on the left i have free space so i will make a wooden fence next to the garage and then grass all the way to the front with a big tree and some abandoned vehicles and some parts lying around
Eshaver Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Richard, now all that station needs is a SIMPLE string of tiny Christmas lamps at the sales canopy !
crazyrichard Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 Richard, now all that station needs is a SIMPLE string of tiny Christmas lamps at the sales canopy ! yeah that could be cool lol
crazyrichard Posted December 2, 2013 Author Posted December 2, 2013 put the roof shingles on , still wet on the picture so tomorrow i think they will sit level like the other roof , then i can give them the same look .. also washed the wood on the garage and made barn doors , the flat part is actually a piece of brown painted plastic glass , lexan with grooves i found one day .. on top of that i put real oakwood i will add hinges and in the middle a chain with lock (insprired by the american diorama here)
wrecker388 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Your dioramas are absolutely amazing. Loved the garage and then you start this. Great job!
Jzaaijer Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Fantastic! It looks very good! It so cool that you were able to turn a relatively plasticy looking kids garage into this professional looking diorama!!
crazyrichard Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 thnx guys and jeroen , whell tbh i only used the roof the rest is all wood and plastic .. but that roof did gave me a lot of inspiration btw do you have dutch roots jeroen ? jeroen is such a particulair dutch name lol
crazyrichard Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) whell on this picture you can see the shingles are flattened now after the glue dryed gave the door a bit more age and sanded the edges , then painted it light brown all over and with a cloth wiped it off this gave the whole piece a new shade of brown without being painted .. then washed the door all over with dark brown oil paint and that created depth .. made a small chain , need to make a lock that hangs on the chain .. above the door i will make a sign with the garage name and the word service Edited December 3, 2013 by crazyrichard
gasser59 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Those doors came out great Richard. Loving this dio. Remember, the bottom of the doors would be a bit more dirty from shoes and other stuff making contact with them.
crazyrichard Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 thnx !! and yes i will work on that the doors are not fixed yet just sitting loose they will also sit up a bit more so they run free of the ground .. still need to make hinges , a lock and also i have this ford service sign that would look awsome on the door i designed a sign in photoshop , wanted to use the richrods name .... just fitted it and gave it one coat of matt varnish scale idea and my desrt after building lol
Dinky Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Man you got skills! Awesome, the doors and the sign are great just like the rest.
Jzaaijer Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 do you have dutch roots jeroen ? jeroen is such a particulair dutch name lol Welzeker ouwe jongen! I was born and raised in good old Utrecht. :-)
Tom Geiger Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Love the Rich Rods sign. It pulls it all together. And I'll have one of those local beers! Interesting that the domestic product has English on the label!
crazyrichard Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 Welzeker ouwe jongen! I was born and raised in good old Utrecht. :-) whahaha cool , i imidiatly thought he must be dutch .. i was born and raised in rotterdam and now live in ridderkerk next to rotterdam ... cool
crazyrichard Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 and at the rest > thnx a lot oh and tom always was in english .. they had special export bottles but .. these are the ones with the twist cap and a tad smaller then a regulair bottle .. i dont know why but i like these bottles most lol
crazyrichard Posted December 4, 2013 Author Posted December 4, 2013 made a lock from styrene , went for like a nice big lock .. always loved those old big locks ... made the doorhandles from brass , brass tubes with flared ends in the holes with handles bend from brass tube tow service ? hmm my current tudor project didnt get much attention now i'm doing this dio , so i pushed it to the garage
crazyrichard Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 better shot of the whole , added a ford logo to the garage door and gave the signs a second coat of varnish
