Matt Bacon Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 ...just strikes me that if the Fiat group were to take something that's basically an Alfa 4C, but fit a substantially de-tuned version of the 2014 Ferrari F1 1.6L V6 engine (say only 350BHP instead of 600), optimise the chassis and finesse the body a bit with a few nods to 246 history (front end, mostly), then they could launch a rather excellent 2015 Dino, to take the fight to the Boxster and Cayman. Not a Ferrari, of course, but a Dino... bestest, M.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 A very interesting prop, Matt; the only question I'd have is if homologating a bleeding-edge F1 V6 is somehow less practical today than it was in the late '60s...
jaymcminn Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Hmmm, it would probably be easier to design a V6 based off of the current California/458 V8 architecture. But yes, that is an interesting idea and one Fiat/Alfa/Ferrari should look into. They really don't have anything in that market segment, and another Dino would be a big hit if it was as pretty as the original.
Joe Handley Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 There has been some talk of Maserati getting a variation of the Pentastar V-6, I think a 3.0l turbo or twin turbo, but can't remember for sure right now.
dino246gt Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Ferrari is manufacturing the V6 for Maserati, 404 hp! And I'd LOVE a new Dino!!!!!
