Wonderbread Kustomz Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I recently started a garage dio a couple weeks ago... So after opening "Wonderbread Kustomz" ... I felt I needed a "Wonderbread Tow and Recovery" truck to go with it.... So far I've grinded and sanded the backside of the grill... First time doing this... And the engine halves glued together... I'll update this as I go... And the shop...
Modlbldr Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Nice work so far. I remember grinding out the back of that grille about 20 years ago. Not hard to do. The 41 Chevy grille I just did a couple of months ago was a BEAR! Are you scratchbuilding the bed and boom? I had reference pics years ago of a similar set up on a 51 Chevy in Alaska. I should have built it. Nice project. I'll be watching. Later-
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Thanks Tom... I'm gonna scratch build the bed for this... Started assembling the chassis... And a general mockup...
Modlbldr Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Your front tires are too small. You need 23's all around if you are using Pegasus wheels. If I'm not mistaken Pegasus did some 23's with a taller side wall. I'd try those on the back and the ones you have on the rear in the front. Later-
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 Thanks, but I'm gonna use these... Did some more work to set it down a bit more....
slusher Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Nice mock up and stance. Going to be a real cool build...
Dinky Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Nice build but i agree that your front wheels look too small. What did you used for the air bellows?
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Thanks guys... I'm gonna get a few more of these die cast cars so I can use the rears of one for the fronts... I used some small o rings that I got from lowes, and styrene ...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 With the motor almost done, I am gonna start work on the interior and then start fabbing up the wrecker bed....
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Thanks Carl... I'll have an update today or tomorrow
tooltas Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I will watch is too I got 50 chevy I works that going to towtruck
Eshaver Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I dunno, I was in the towing business, actually owned my own company . I've built wreckers , drove wreckers , worked on others wreckers , made models of wreckers . The tires ................... I dunno .
Edward Gore Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Following this project closely. Great idea.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Been a while on this... But I've got it in primer and better wheels and tires... It's not gonna be a tow truck anymore... Gonna try my hand at a two tone panel paintjob.... Lord help me lol...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Got my first part of paintwork done...
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 Gonna let it sit for a couple days and then WETSAND and clear...
slusher Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Looking great James. Nice touch on the wheel and tire change..
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Got a bit more done... Headliner is done, and the grill and lights are in and painted black window trim...
