Southern Fried Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Haven't worked on the "Southern Fried '57 Ford much since the first post. Been bogged down with commitments of aircraft builds. Gotta' go where the cash is. Have some free time coming up to spend on the '57. Wanted to actually FINISH a car before jumping back in. Had this one laying around for 12-13 years that I have robbed parts out of. Wanted to do a quick build. 2-4 nites at the most. "Ex-Gasser" Got this much done most of yesterday and last nite. Spray bombed with the same '57 paint. (Only spray bomb color I have at the moment. I aint dragging the air brush out!)) Spray/brushed the chassis. Dropped in a raised front axle. Shimmed the rear springs some. Engine is the Revell Caddy. Brushed blue and lightly rusted. Gotta' do some more work on the intake/carbs. Little corrosion to add. Simple wiring/fuel lines/linkage/ etc. Tarnished Americans. Pie crust slicks. Hope to finish this one up by the weekend, then devote some time to "Southern fried. Happy Modeling!

Southern Fried Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Thanks for the comments! Working on it now...lunch break on the midnite shift. As for the engine...it's the Revell Parts Pack Cadillac...with the 4 Strombergs option, and, AMT '59 El Camino Caddy valve covers.
bpletcher55 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 thanks for the motor info the valve covers had me stumped ,
Southern Fried Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 you've done tanks, right? WHAT??? Me...build a "target"??? LOL! No, I build aircraft. 75% of which are WW1. They got really...really grubby.
Shardik Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 That looks fantastic. The weathering on the chassis, in particular, is highly convincing. Come to think of it, so is the patina on the body. I can handle extreme weathering but this kind of subtlety still elludes me. Have you done any tutorials? Have you posted any of your WWI aircraft in the other models section? I'd love to see them, as I share that particular passion as well.
