Nope, I don't feel overwhelmed by the new releases at all. Too many of them aren't "new"; they're reissues. Most of those that are "new" don't interest me- maybe I'm a bit jaded. I am, however, overwhelmed by the number of kits that I do have that are yet to be built. I still have stuff that I bought NEW at the NNL East so many years ago that have $7.00 price stickers on the boxes.

My ten cents on this is that I normally don't have time to be overwhelmed, but I also take it as a great healthy sign that perhaps the manufacturers are getting a much needed boost as the styrene economy improves.

Had a discussion with family recently about "if you see and want it. buy it, because it might not be there later" thing as it applied to things in general.

I quietly thought, yeah, that's pretty much how it applies to the model car hobby as well.

How many times have you NOT bought a new kit thinking "I'll get it later" only to your demise, it ain't available any more and now you're looking on Ebay at prices you'll never pay?

I hear you,Greg.I've missed out on the Tamiya Williams FW24 and the Fujimi 250 GTO.But I've been picking up other kits when I've found them cheap even though I might already have an example or two-like the Fujimi Enthusiast Model Ferrari Daytona convertible.

I still haven't bought the Revell Mustang LX or the reissued AMT '62 Vette or '49 Mercury or '56 Ford or a bunch of others.I might have to sell off some of the duplicates in my stash for those- but I don't want to do that!

Full styrene junkie here!

I think it's very good time to be a model builder. There are kits out now or recently that were not avail when the subject was new ( 1967 Coronet just as one example )

Do I like it ? Heck yea.

But now I buy only the ones that have a chance to be built in the forseeable future .

If I can't picture myself building it , I don't buy it.

The ones I do buy, I usually try to buy multiples of,,,,,, as toy funds and/or the cheif financial officer allows for

I know that any kit that Revell or Round 2 have the tooling for will be reissued again in the future. And a year or two from now I'm likely to see that same kit at a swap meet for $10.

Agreed,

I refused to pay some of the ebay prices on out of production kits.

Example is the Polar Lights Charger funnycar. I've seen examples sell for $30 and up . Add shipping to that and it's $40 or more,,,,no thanks. I don't need them that bad ,, I already have several on hand .

IF I need more(not likely ) I'll pick one or 3 up at a swap meet . Actually bought 2 at a local model contest/swap this past spring . paid $30 for the pair. Mainly because they make great parts kits / chassis doners.

There are a few maybe that I am interested in, but I enjoy taking an old played out kit, chopping it into many pieces, added many pieces from other kit bodies and creating something that the model companies wouldn't put their time and money into producing.

Heck yes I feel overwhelmed and with three or fewer completions a year, my stash grows by twice that. It's getting harder to justify to the wife. She doesn't mind the expenditure so much as the storage. We have limited space.

Bring em on! Looking forward to a bunch of them. No time to build and they just pile up...... im saving them for my retirement years.... which is about 35 years away, lol
