mrmike
My latest project is Revell's Shelby GT500 featuring a new McNally, Boston PI story. This story is only to show what is driving the WIP. The story is called Protect Me, My Love. The persons described in this story are fictitious and not related to anyone living or deceased. The Story Two years ago...Tracy struggles with Dack, a wanted criminal who's hand slips off of her mouth and she screams, McNally! McNally comes running into the room, releases Tracy and starts fighting with Dack eventually subduing him. Tracy is lying on the floor crying hysterically when McNally goes over to her after tying up Dack and he starts to console her. Due to work, McNally was out of town for the next several days and he called Tracy, but got no answer. When he got home, he found a Dear John letter from her citing she could no longer tolerate his dangerous lifestyle. Today...after having dinner at their favorite restaurant, McNally and Caitlyn arrive at his house only to find a woman sitting on the front porch steps. "Who is she," asks Caitlyn. "Tracy Balidon, my ex-girlfriend." McNally get out of his Charger and greets Tracy who asks for his protection from her ex-lover who has followed her from Las Vegas. McNally reluctantly agrees to protect Tracy from Dominic Chadbourne at his usual rate, but Tracy will stay in the spare room of his house. McNally hopes he doesn't have to take drastic or even worse, deadly measures against Dominic. The Build I am using Revell's 2010 Shelby GT500 kit #85-4938. The paint is Model Master No. 28130 Royal Blue Pearl. I am replacing the kit tires with a set of Pegasus #1602 225/45-18 Pilots. I've got the front and rear panels installed and it is awaiting primer. McNally will return... Edited November 13, 2013 by mrmike

mrmike
Thanks guys! I really liked building this kit but it really needs to be lowered.....bad!! Keep watching as I will lower this Shelby. The Story With Caitlyn safely at home, McNally and Tracy go to the Four Seasons Hotel to get her luggage and to check her out of her suite. McNally hangs back a few paces as she walks out of the hotel when a 6 foot tall man steps over to her and reaches out for her arm and calls out her name. McNally rushes up to the man and grabs his arm, twists it behind his back and quickly moves him over to the wall. "State your name and your business with her?" "My name is Dominic Chadbourne...let go of me!" McNally firmly says to Dominic, "You no longer have any business with her. You''ll leave her alone and not contact her is any way, shape, or form. Do you understand?" Dominic reluctantly says yes. With Dominic still facing the wall, McNally and Tracy rush out of the hotel and into his waiting Charger Daytona and they drive away quickly. The Build Tonight I assembled the basic engine and prepped it for paint. As with the Revell '06 Mustangs, this one sit high, so after reading other builders version for lowering the suspension, I deviated from my usual lowering method to modifying the frame where the K member is mounted. Using my Dremel and a sanding bit, I ground down the mounts about 1/8 inch. I mocked up the interior, chassis and the body to see where the front wheels would locate. Perfect! McNally will return... Johnny1973
I always like reading a good story when you are builting Mike.Great color choice.
mrmike
Thanks John! I'm sure you meant building not builting. The Story With Tracy spending the day with Caitlyn Scotsen at the DA's office, McNally starts by calling around to various hotels around Boston until he finds the one that Dominic is staying at, the Park Plaza Hotel. He parks his Charger Daytona at the curb across from the car park entrance waiting for Dominic to drive out in his rental Chevy. He didn't have to wait long when he sees Dominic drive out, makes a left and drives away. McNally follows from a short distance always keeping the rental in sight. After a while it seems that Dominic is giving McNally a tour of the city as he is heading down to the warehouse district. Suddenly, Dominic takes a right into an alley with McNally following him and giving chase. The Build I got the body painted this morning. Model Master Royal Blue Pearl. I decided not to strip the chrome plating from the wheels. Instead, I shot them with a coat of Testors Dull-Cote, knocking down the sheen. McNally will return... mrmike
The Story McNally follows Dominic down the alley and tries to close the gap between them. Suddenly, Dominic turns his rental car sideways blocking the alley with McNally stopping just short of the rental. Without warning, a large truck hits the Charger Daytona in the drivers side and pushes it up into a concrete corner post, bending the car at the passenger door. McNally pulls his Smith & Wesson Model 4506 from his shoulder holster and starts firing at the truck as it backs away, but hits the loading dock behind stalling out the engine. Dominic turns the rental back up towards the end of the alley and out into the street as McNally squirms out the drivers door window. He gets up from the pavement and limps over to the truck aiming his gun at the cab, opens the door with the driver falling out to the ground..dead. The Build This morning I clearcoated the hood and the body returning the shine I had when I first painted it. I painted the exhaust and brake discs with Model Master Metalizer Aluminium Plate and will give them a light polishing after they have gassed out. McNally will return... mrmike
Thank you Brian! It's a bit darker than I wanted, but came out very nice and smooth. The Story McNally is transported to Mass. General Hospital's ER and checked out. The doctor says he will be OK with a few bumps and bruises to show for his efforts. The doctor tells him he can get dressed, but he struggles getting his t-shirt over his head being so sore. He hears Caitlyn's voice say, "Oh, McNally...let me help you." When he pokes his head through the shirt he says, "Do I know you?" as she looks at him with an inquiring look on her face. "McNally," she says and he replies, "I don't know who this McNally is, but you smell so nice and look so pretty." Caitlyn slaps him on the upper arm and he buries his head into her shoulder and replies, "Doctor, doctor...I'm having an attack!" She replies, "Stop it or I'll really hurt you!" "OK, can I have a ride home?" "Of course," she says with a wink and a smile. Tracy then walks into the treatment room and starts yelling at McNally. "This is going to stop right now! You are going to get hurt or killed!" "I will not stop this investigation. Your ex has tried to kill me and he has to be stopped. I've already had to kill someone because of this," he says grabbing his jacket and walking out looking for the cop who has his gun. At the nurse's station, he sees Sgt. Adam Troy waiting for him with his Smith & Wesson Model 4506 and shoulder holster. The Build I clearcoated the body and hood with Testors One Coat Lacquer clear last week and gave it a light polishing this morning. The interior panels and interior floor were painted with Model Master Fabric Gray. The seats and side panels will be given a coat of semi gloss clear. The floor will be flocked. The suspension pieces have been painted with Tamiya TS-29 Semi-Gloss Black. McNally will return...

mrmike
Thanks Austin, Carl, and Roy! WOW! The build is amazing and the story is excellent. Have you ever though of compiling all of your short stories in a book with pictures of your models? Austin, you are not the first nor will you be the last person to ask or make the suggestion. Compiling a collection of my story/builds has crossed my mind a time or two. I have been doing about two to three story/builds every year since 2009, so I have done a few. I would have to gather the pictures I want to use, set up the text and merge them all together into one. I have thought about doing all one story using the various short stories that I have written since during that time. Sadly to say, I doubt I would ever see that project come to fruition. mrmike
The Story Sgt. Det. Troy escorts McNally, Caitlyn, and Tracy outside and he returns McNally's Smith & Wesson Model 4506 and shoulder holster back to him. Dominic has checked out of his hotel and his whereabouts are unknown. An APB has been issued for his detainment for questioning. McNally will escort Caitlyn and Tracy back over to the DA's office building and then he'll hop on the T and head over to Vic's garage to check out the Charger Daytona. Hopefully Vic will have a rental for him. McNally arrives at Vic's Auto and sticks his head into Vic's office and asks about the Charger. They go out back to the yard and inspect the damaged car which appears to be totaled. After removing his belongings from the car, they return to Vic's office and Vic's tells of a Shelby GT500 that he has on commission and the owner is looking to sell fast. The Shelby looks brand new and McNally sits inside and starts the car and takes it out for a test drive. Vic watches from the car lot and says aloud to himself, "Come on Mc...punch it!" As if McNally had heard him, he floors the gas pedal and the car takes off screeching its tires and McNally deciding that he had to have this car. The Build I have finished the engine... and mounted it in the chassis. McNally will return...

mrmike
Thanks Jonathan and Duane! Jonathan, has the 2005-2010 Mustang CBP ended? No postings in over a year and you did tell me that it was open-ended. Just wondering... Duane, great to see you on this forum!
