Clemi Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hi guys, I often read WIP in a lot of topics. But I'm not sure what this means because I'm not the best in the english language. I think it is "work in progress", this sounds logically for me. Anyone can explain it me?
Pro Wrench Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Work in progress is correct. Edited November 27, 2013 by Pro Wrench
Repstock Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 What is pau, then?...finished (pau) models...
Harry P. Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 What is pau, then?...finished (pau) models... Pau is Hawaiian for "finished" or "done." Gregg lives in Hawaii. Connect the dots...
ScaleDale Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I first heard the term in graphic design, so it isn't just a model building thing. WIP, that is. Pau for now... Dale
Brett Barrow Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 A friend of mine gave me the nickname "Wip" because I rarely finish anything and all my models are works in progress...
Repstock Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Pau is Hawaiian for "finished" or "done." Gregg lives in Hawaii. Connect the dots... What, now I need to be TRI-lingual?
Tom Geiger Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 and OTB stands for On The Bench (and not off track betting in this instance!)
Randytheroadrunner Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 My wife says I've been a WIP for 35 years.
Eshaver Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Would somebody allow us to return to a simpler time ???
ScaleDale Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Would somebody allow us to return to a simpler time ??? Sure. When you wake up tomorrow it will be January 1, 1816. Don't worry about setting the clock on the microwave... Dale
blunc Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Sure. When you wake up tomorrow it will be January 1, 1816. Don't worry about setting the clock on the microwave... Dale umm... how do I get this cursed sundial to stop blinking 12:00 ?
ScaleDale Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 umm... how do I get this cursed sundial to stop blinking 12:00 ? Strike with that ball peen hammer I lost. Anyone one seen my hammer? Dale
Danno Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Strike with that ball peen hammer I lost. Anyone one seen my hammer? Dale Yeah. It's down the street.
Toner283 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) Dang it. I almost spewed pepsi out of my nose with the hammer comment. Here I was innocently out for a stroll on the interweb looking for information on model cars and I stumbled into a nut house cleverly disguised as a model car forum. Lol. Buncha crazy people. You are all one chrome sprue short of a model kit. Good thing I seem to fit right in. Edited November 29, 2013 by Toner283
Jordan 191 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I have found it funny that threads in the On The Workbench section are WIP instead of being all OTW or naming the section Work in Progress. Not problematic just funny.
ScaleDale Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I have found it funny that threads in the On The Workbench section are WIP instead of being all OTW or naming the section Work in Progress. Not problematic just funny. I think the term "On the bench" pre dates WIP. Dale
Modelmartin Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 WIP means I will just take pictures of a body shell and tires taped to the workbench and call it a model!
Tom Geiger Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 WIP means I will just take pictures of a body shell and tires taped to the workbench and call it a model! Oh, how many times we've seen this!
