BluePopsicle Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 This thing was an absolute nightmare. Oddly, I now have a desire to build the retool of this kit to see how much easier it is. I know there are several imperfections with my creation but it is actually at a point that I can call "finished". Please keep in mind that this thing is much more shiny in real life. I made the mistake of using the flash on my camera which took the shiny away. Enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking.
o-man Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I love the colors. Wheels look good too. If this thing is related to the AMT 53 Vette, I know what you went through!
Kennyboy Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) Looks real good Jon! That kit is a real nightmare and you tamed it into a fine looking model. Good job! One piece of advice, try some Elmer's clear glue for the windshield next time.....it wont fog out. Edited November 29, 2013 by Kennyboy
mnwildpunk Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Is this the god awful amt 57 kit? I know what a nightmare that one is
Dinky Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Nice job Jon!! Please explain the nightmare guys? Got this one stashed, bought it cheap but I only read negative things about it.

I've got some non hazing glue but it didn't want to hold. Is this the god awful amt 57 kit? I know what a nightmare that one is Yes Dave, it sure is that very kit. LOL it sucked.
BluePopsicle Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Nice job Jon!! Please explain the nightmare guys? Got this one stashed, bought it cheap but I only read negative things about it. Thanks Arno! This kit is a nightmare because out of the box it is as follows: Body lines don't match up Horrible flashing Parts don't fit Missing parts Clear plastic is brittle I'm sure I'm missing something haha
BluePopsicle Posted November 29, 2013 Author Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks Jon, i know what to do with mine ;-) HAHA good luck with it. It's a headache but I'm sure you'll be quite proud when you finish it as I am now.
Dinky Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Thanks, i might keep this one for the last :-)
'70 Grande Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Did you do any adjustments to get your tilting-hood/front-end piece to line-up so well with the body? I thought the line-up of the hood/front-end and body pieces was considered the biggest challenge when building this kit, so I'm always looking for advice on how to improve the fit there.
Speedfreak Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) Great job on what sounds like a very difficult build Jon. It is certainly sweet to the eyes. That color is soooooooo nice, what is that? And those wheels and tires look really good on that car, nice choices! Edited November 30, 2013 by Speedfreak
BluePopsicle Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 Did you do any adjustments to get your tilting-hood/front-end piece to line-up so well with the body? I thought the line-up of the hood/front-end and body pieces was considered the biggest challenge when building this kit, so I'm always looking for advice on how to improve the fit there. My hood hinge was flashed over so badly I couldn't use it. The hood is actually just sitting on the engine right now. I did however have to do a ton of grinding, sanding and reshaping to get the hood body lines to line up. Something that helps with that is the fact that I made a mod to the hood as well. Hood came out of the box with a hole cut out for a supercharger and blower. I got some styrene and filled that in as I had plans to use the LS7 engine. Great job on what sounds like a very difficult build Jon. It is certainly sweet to the eyes. That color is soooooooo nice, what is that? And those wheels and tires look really good on that car, nice choices! Thank you Gene, I'm glad you like it. The color is SinfulColors Professional nail polish "Under 18" over black.
Danno Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Nice. But you really need to paint the underside of the front clip, especially if you're displaying it in the "up" position.
PappyD340 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Nice. But you really need to paint the underside of the front clip, especially if you're displaying it in the "up" position. I agree about under the front clip, but other than that I think it looks good, really like the wheels!!
mnwildpunk Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Wow amazing work then body lines actually match up
BluePopsicle Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 Nice. But you really need to paint the underside of the front clip, especially if you're displaying it in the "up" position. You're absolutely right and I will take care of that today. The instructions say to paint the underside black. I agree about under the front clip, but other than that I think it looks good, really like the wheels!! Thank you! Glad you like you like it.
