In the pacific northwest this is a far cry from last week. Highs in the twenties and lows on the single digits. And snow and ice saturday night. This week temps in the 40s and above and wind and rain. Cant wait for summer.

Here a bit west of Philadelphia we are getting hammered. We have been getting 2-3 inches per hour. News just said we set a record for the first winter ever with 4 storms of 6" or greater. They started keeping records in 1884. News just mentioned we're getting 12-18" and my town already records 9.5".

A file photo of when I was staining the deck this past summer for reference...

Same photo in the past hour! Note that the benches will soon disappear. I believe we've had enough! It just stopped, but they're calling this the lull in the storm. So it may be a good idea to get out there and get some out of the way before the other side of the storm starts!

It was sure pretty this AM in my part of the South, but the temps are up, it's melting, and the now slushy roads are entirely navigable by vehicles with decent tires.

I missed the "Armageddon, disaster, catastrophic" part. Darn. :( What a gyp.

Same here in Exton Blair! The snow is so deep the deer can't get around. Here's a picture I took in my yard today. This guy is up to his body in snow! Behind the deer is a snow covered bush that is like a tent. The black part is the entrance and they're hiding in there.

I envy you people with houses in rural areas so much, i don't think i will ever be able to afford one and will always be stuck in these over used nyc apartments with no garage or deck or a place to work on a truck! Great photos of the snow though i really would love to spend time outdoors over there, probably amazing air compared to smell of auto exhaust and cigarettes in nyc.

You say that now. Wait for hurricane season.

There are "weather problems" all over the world, and one either has to live with them or move. If you move, you may just be trading one problem for another.

So true. We are sitting in 80 degree weather here in SoCal, but sometimes the earth moves just to remind us who is really in charge. And then when the rain comes, the earth moves again in the form of mud slides. Some times it just decides to catch fire and burn everything to the ground. But like most, I wouldn't live anywhere else. We all make choices that others can't understand but they are our choices and we live with them, good or bad.

We've been in the deep freeze here for so long (seems like forever), with so much snow on the ground (still), that I don't know if I should believe this... but the forecast high for next Thursday is... 56!!!

Here come the flash flood warnings...

Yup, it's only 32* here and very sunny which heats up the surfaces. It feels warmer out. My driveway is a little stream headed towards the street, and since our street is a hill, there's a lot of water headed down hill!

We did luck out. I did get the 18" yesterday and cleared it in what was the lull in the storm. We were told we'd get another big dump of snow, but only got 2" or so. Much of it, my driveway and sidewalks, have melted in the sun, so I didn't break out the snow blower. Good thing, I'm still sore from yesterday. Yea, I have a big snow blower, but you are still wrestling the darn machine, especially in deep snow.

Yep! Just got 4 fresh inches (it's still coming down) and will be 58 degrees (yeah right) Thursday.

Looks like both of our forecasts are pegging Thursday as a very warm day. It could get interesting if all that snow melts in one day.

It NEVER warms after being this cold for this long as quickly as it's predicted.

There have been days here when the temperature swing from one day to the next was more than 40 degrees... 60 one day, 20 the next. It doesn't happen all that often, but it does happen. I think the midwestern US probably has the most unpredictable weather, with the craziest changes, of all the places on Earth.

Have you guys seen the Fox River lately? I drove over it on Fabian Pkwy going into work and it was almost completely frozen over with snow covering the ice! Seeing as some of my favorite crawling spots are along there, it might be a while before I can find any of the rocks...........they're currently buried under the snow, and just might be under the river for a few months afterwards too.

You know you are from Missouri if:

You ever wore shorts and a parka at the same time.

You used the heat and AC in the same day.

You saw it rain on the other side of the highway while your side was dry.

You saw a tornado and said " Darn I just washed the car".

The four seasons are, almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction.

I drove over it the other day on North Avenue, where there is that little "waterfall" dam. Frozen over on the surface, but still flowing over the dam. Kind of odd to see that.

I heard that the Great Lakes are more than 90% frozen over... the highest percent in many years.

So much for "global warming"...

Ditto for Illinois.

I take I95 from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. The road comes to a screeching halt for a few miles where the rubber neckers are looking off the bridge at the completely frozen Delaware River. If George Washington had waited, he could've just walked across!
