Wayne, my wife and I were driving in Vegas 10-20 (?)years ago and got caught in a flash flood, and it was quite an experience. There were no cross streets visible, only water. We really like Red Rock Canyon as well. Seen some rattlers there also.

The computer said the current temperature is -22* here right now, my outside thermometer says -24*

The walls of our house are popping and banging like some one is throwing a football against the outside walls (hard to sleep thru that)

Nick the older parts of town built on the valley floor have always had extreme issues. Even with extensive sewer work you still see that happening. MrsG was leaving her mother's place and our Civic "floated" through an intersection. She called me and said she was waiting it out at her brother's place.

Good thing is it doesn't sit around. Bad thing is with heavy enough rain things are literally buried. We lost a landscaper and his back hoe two years ago on a golf course. They found the back hoe pretty quickly but it took a week to find the poor soul operating it.

17 year old kid got to screwing around in a downpour last year. He falls into a flood canal and is found three weeks later, 4 miles from where he disappeared.

Search and Rescue here isn't just for the nature areas and the lake.

Hopefully we'll see some relief in about another week around here. And today is yet another day closer to spring.

And on this day closer to spring the forecast is for 2-5 more inches of winter this weekend!

Thats nothing! 6 to 10 here starting late Saturday night through Monday morning. Then the bottom drops out of the temps again.

Yep, they said 10 inches downstate here... coming your way!

Sure hope so, I am flying up that way next weekend and I got rid of my winter weather gear when I moved away in 2005.

Not asking for spring like weather but above freezing would be nice!

Yeah, happy, happy, joy, joy.... we're supposed yo get it Sunday night into Monday...... at least 6 to 12 inches of the white stuff..!! Stories are all over the News reports how various Towns and Cities can't get their road salt orders filled. and, stores are out of rock salt, calcium chloride, etc. (Lowes, Home Depot, local Hardware stores...... They're also saying that stores mentioned are running out of snow shovels...!!! That one is a real mystery to me..!! What do the people who live here in the Pittsburgh area, and have lived here forever...... what do they do with their snow shovels? Do they use them once and then throw them away and then have to run out to buy another one for the next storm..?? I can see if the shovel breaks. but how often do you actually break a snow shovel? Sure, snow melt chemicals and rock salt have to be replenished, but snow shovels..??? And don't forget the runs on the supermarkets and convenience stores for milk and bread..!!

Yup, we're right in the middle of it! Isn't this the kind of graphic you'd expect to see to explain the end of the world??

2 - 5 more inches of snow Harry? After what we've been through, that doesn't even phase me anymore. No sweat. Stop cryin' and start shovelin' and you'll get through this winter yet, I guarantee it.

I'm 60 years old and have spent all of those winters in central Indiana. I have seen ice storms in April, and snow in May. And those years weren't as cold or as snowy as this year. I don't expect it to be constantly spring like weather until late May or June this year.

Back in the early 90's we had an ice storm in late April. Power was out for 10's of thousands and schools and businesses were closed for 3 days. My best friends power was out for 10 days, into early May.

I've seen snow in April a coupla times, however I'm still thinkin' spring like weather the end of March and into April this year. I am optimistic.

NNL East used to be at the end of March. We always managed to dodge the bullet of snow storm, but there were major blizzards both the weekend before one year, and the weekend after another year. And after the storm, it would be 60 degrees on snow day. When we moved the show to April to work with the new hall, that was one of the positives, we didn't have to worry about that anymore!

That one year that there was a blizzard the weekend before us, the local IPMS show got the direct hit. It was being held 15 minutes from my house and I didn't even venture out with 4WD. The hall gave them a free date in the fall and they got to hold the show, with the plaques all with the original date on them. Someone did a figure of a hand coming out snow holding up a model car to commemorate the event.

More white stuff on the ground this morning, but I was able to get to church and then breakfast with no trouble. I like having front wheel drive in this stuff, that's why I left my truck at home. Really no need for a 4 X 4, as I've done 50+ years of driving without one. Of course when I got home I had to grab the shovel and the bull (Toro) and get to work. The sun is shining today and of course we're another day closer to spring.

Here in Eastern PA we are in the calm before the storm. It's just cloudy out and currently 37 degrees. I understand this will drop dramatically and we'll be getting enough snow to stay home from work tomorrow. Argh!

You're going to get the storm that we just had. Six inches here yesterday.

I just looked at the spring (March-May) forecast for the upper Midwest, and it's predicted to be much cooler than normal. We can only hope June-August temperatures follow that pattern.

Yep, what I've been thinking we were in for. Danged global warming.
