Upper 80's here today. Windows and doors wide open and the ceiling fans are a turning. We had severe wind again yesterday so not a cloud to be seen.

A co worker recently asked if I would ever move back to St. Louis. He's from the Quad cities and said he doesn't miss it at all.

I laughed.

With Saturday's high actually hitting 80 here, I figured ok... winter has to be over, right? I mean, it's halfway to May, fer cryin' out loud! But what a change today.

Saturday: Sunny, breezy, high of 80. Pretty much a "10" as far as weather goes.

Today (Sunday): the "high" was the overnight low (64)... and the temp has been sinking like the Titanic ever since. Currently in the 40s.

Tomorrow (Monday): Chance of snow.

Yep. The dreaded "S word" rears its ugly head again!

Why...

That's just depressing.

Our snow is still on the way. We're supposed to get anywhere from a "dusting" to an inch overnight.

What's the saying, 'April snow showers bring May flowers' or something like that...I hear they have been getting snow in Colorado and Oklahoma also. In Colorado, spring snows are usually the biggest. Nice cooler weather here in the desert today--only supposed to be 87 today.

Chance of snow? You've got to remember that the word "chance" can be used in a variety of ways like there's a CHANCE that I'll win the lotto, or a CHANCE that I'll get struck by lightning, or a CHANCE that I'll win the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes. Those weather "clowns" on TV have to make things interesting and like to "embellish" things a lot, and they get paid whether they're right or wrong.

Oh Kwap, here we go again!

Just kidding... file photo above from the Blizzard of 2010 at my old house in New Jersey!

Here in Eastern Pa it's 78 degrees, sunny and windy. Fortunately the wind is blowing the leaves towards the back of the property where I want them. So I'll wait a bit and let Mother Nature move them for me! I think the warm weather is here to stay. The frogs have all come out of hibernation and I am hearing their mating call all day and night!

5:45...

Still snowing like crazy. And it's sticking.

Hard to believe it was 80 degrees just two days ago!

I assume this is an unusual weather pattern for Illinois? This is the normal spring snow pattern in Colorado..every year I lived there, we would have sunny, warm weather then a huge snow in April..but it was a dry snow.. :)

No, the sad fact is that this sort of nonsense is the rule here, not the exception.

But when everyone was out and about on Saturday, and we were all just hanging out and talking with the neighbors, etc, and it was 80 degrees... I guess we all actually believed that winter really was finally over. I've lived here almost all my life. I should have known better than to be fooled into thinking an 80 degree day meant "spring is here!"

Yeah, you always get fooled...I remember times of eating lunch outside, riding around in a convertible w/ the top down on a sunny Spring day in Denver...then 30-45 inches over the next 3 days...

Just don't put away your snow-boards yet folks. LOL! It might have been in the 80's on Saturday, but not where I was at. Keep that "Bowtie" under wraps for a bit longer Harry.

And to think I was out mowing leaves this afternoon here in PA and it was 80 degrees. I hear that we could be getting your snow in the next day or so. Time will tell. Strange since I can hear a lot of forest life that thinks it's spring, in the woods behind me.

But my amusing lawn mower story. I didn't have a lawn mower here in PA because the HOA recommended lawn guy does most of the lawns on my block super cheap. Cheap as in not worth owning a riding mower, and I'm on an acre. Last fall we were emptying out my in-laws house to sell it. Everyone took some stuff, we sold a lot at a garage sale and in the end there was this fairly new looking high end Honda lawn mower. My bro-in-law told me it was garbage. He said it was running rough so he took it to a mower shop for repair. He said the following spring it wouldn't even start. He wanted to throw it away. So I put it in my van figuring I could fix it and use it here in PA. I pull it out today figuring I have time to go through it and see what's up. I open the gas cap... empty. I fill it and it starts on the first pull. Yea, it was out of gas! And I think that all three of my wife's brothers were in on that one! My theory is that the shop winterized it, emptying the tank. It has a new spark plug, new air filter etc. And my wife's family brain trust never checked the gas tank that spring!

Todays high was 61, I missed it by the time I was up for work. By noon we had closed the doors, by 3 we had the heat on. Anything from flurries to an inch of snow tonight with a low of 26. Tomorrows high will be in the mid 30's. Wednesday won't be much better and nothing as nice as last Saturday is in the forecast for the next week.

Anyone ready to put a hit on Mother Nature?

I was off work at 6pm tonight and had to make a run to Elburn before heading home. THE roads weren't bad, but the visbility sucked from the store to Elburn as well as the rest of the trip back to West Chicago, not sure if I even had 1/2 mile of visibilty at times!
