The Modeling Hermit Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Over 15 years ago I had somebody tell me that a black & white diorama could not be done. I couldn't leave that alone and took on the challenge and this is the result. The inspiration was a small photograph of a 53 Ford 4 door sedan that had this paint treatment sitting beside a garage. In order to add more interest to the scene I placed a child and some outdoor toys. I posted this someplace else and soon discovered that I could have saved myself a lot of work if I'd just had brains enough to research "black & white dioramas".
charlie8575 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I like the fundamental idea, Doug, and I think you have a pretty good start. May I suggest adding some gray-scale? The idea, I think, is to make it look like black and white film. Just bought a roll because I'm bored with color and I'm waiting for a good snow-fall to hit so I can go take pictures of some of the pretty town commons/centers around here. That and I need to do a beginning-to-end process (except the printing, I don't have space for the tanks for contact prints). Charlie Larkin
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 nice idea !! it made me think back of the awsome hollywoord dio here and when you place a colored item / car in that really popsbuilding looks great !
vaughn Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Hi Doug. Can not remember who but someone did a fantastic black and white garage not long ago on here. There are so many good modelers on here, I seem to have memory difficulties at times. Maybe someone will read this and help you out and refreshin my memory. Shades and shadows.
gasser59 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 That would have been Hollywood Jim and having seen his "Making Memories" dio in person, I have to say its one of my favorite dioramas. There's a thread on here in this section.
