Greg Myers Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 (edited) Just Google "Altered Bantam Coupe" : https://www.google.com/search?q=altered+bantam+coupe&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=-YeJUaXvFOXN0wH2voGQCQ&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1280&bih=885 American Bantam Model 60 Altered Edited May 7, 2013 by Greg Myers
High octane Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Can't wait to see what's in the kit. That bottom photo is Gabby Bleeker driving his Physco altered as I have seen him at both Rockford and Union Grove back in the 60's.
Greg Myers Posted May 18, 2013 Author Posted May 18, 2013 So what body do you think they ment it to be ? A twodoor sedan? or a five window coupe ?
Mark Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 So what body do you think they ment it to be ? A twodoor sedan? or a five window coupe ? No idea! To me, it looks like a Victoria with the bustle at the rear replaced by the rolled-under lower section from a sedan. And all of the beltline trim removed. I was going to cut the thing every which way until it was small enough to be an American Bantam. Then I saw that Jimmy Flintstone made an American Bantam body in 1/25 scale, so I grabbed that.
Greg Myers Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 Just found this http://cacklefest.com/Perrenot.shtml
Draggon Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Great pics Greg. Sure looks like the original Sizzler was a direct copy of Al Bergler's comp. coupe.
Greg Myers Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Lots of old drag cars here, and plenty of Hilborn injected small block Chevys : http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=456464&page=3 Should get the ol juices goin' Edited June 1, 2013 by Greg Myers
High octane Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I was there when that photo was taken, how 'bout you Greg? Yes, I will be buying a few of these kits. I just hate "adding" more plastic to my already overwhelming "pile." Oh well.
Greg Myers Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Let's get back on track here guys (and Gals ) Goin' away . . . now how about a little competition Round2 ? Don't you have this in your stash? Dig it up rewrap it, in say a tasty Comp Coupe style box art to do battle with Revell / Monogram ? and we know you still have some of these : Yeah, I know, same kit. But still, a little competition ( get it? ) wouldn't hurt. Mmmmm tasty and you both have this body. How about a great little 2in1 kit ? Bantam Roadster/Coupe kit ? What's this ? Somebodys gonna love this one. With Wayne style Heads no less. 'Cuda's okay, certainly better than the Kit That Must Not Be Named - but this one strikes me as likely Revell's runaway best of 2013. Just plays closest to the company's strengths. ??? Edited December 12, 2013 by Casey
Brett Barrow Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Thank you for posting your advanced-release build! Looks like a winner to me too. And yes, a flat head...straight six's.....anything goes! I'm thinking blown Olds...
FASTBACK340 Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 I'm thinking blown Olds... Fortunately there's no wrong answer!
2002p51 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Here ya go. This one should be pretty easy to duplicate. (Photos from the March, 1961 issue of Hot Rod Magazine)
cruz Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Anybody else have more pictures, better yet any links on vintage drag racing engines?
Joe Handley Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Brings a whole different meaning to the term "all motor"
