Hawk312 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 This is looking great! Are you using the "bigs and littles" from the new AMT polyglas GT parts pack?
oldscool Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 This is looking great! Are you using the "bigs and littles" from the new AMT polyglas GT parts pack? They are the same tires but they came from the 66 Mustang kit. The wheels came from the new issue 65 Ford Galaxy kit. They are some of the best 1/25 Cragar SS wheels I have ever seen and are different from the ones in the 66 Galaxy kit.
slusher Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Wheels and tires, engine, and interior looks great to bad about the weather but its the same here. Can't get out to paint..
oldscool Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Yahooooo! I got everything painted today. Here are some sunshine pics of the body: Very bright red is just what I was going for. Don't know if this is a match for a factory color or not. Now some pics in the shade to show the variations in different lighting:
Belugawrx Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Nice paint brother!! This coming along nicely
freakshow12 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Awesome. May I ask what that wood stuff is the car is sitting on?
oldscool Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Awesome. May I ask what that wood stuff is the car is sitting on? The wood is just run of the mill deck boards from Lowes with 4-5 years of weathering.
freakshow12 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 The wood is just run of the mill deck boards from Lowes with 4-5 years of weathering. Nice! I was asking as I have not seen anything like that since October and not likely to until April lol. Lucky bugger
oldscool Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 Nice! I was asking as I have not seen anything like that since October and not likely to until April lol. Lucky bugger I gotcha. Today is the first time I have seen them in a week!
oldscool Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 Been 2 weeks but I now have the interior and chassis done. Completely forgot to paint the gas tank until after I had the exhaust system on and I'm not going to try it now. Closest I could find to a wood color for steering wheel and shifter knob. It's RAF dark earth aircraft color with a coat of future. Maybe I'll get her finished before the spring thaw.
oldscool Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Back on this one. Did a mockup of the major subassemblies and did a little trimming to get everything to go together. I trimmed the spring shackles to get the rear valence to fit flush: I cut off the front frame rail ends to get them under the front valence without flexing the chassis too much: Here's what she looks like : Happy with it so far.
Rob Hall Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Looking good..like the wheel & tire choice and color.
sak Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Badass. But I believe the torsion bars were not bare steel. I believe they were painted black with a stripe.
Belugawrx Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 Very nice stance on that Super clean interior too Nice work Cheers
oldscool Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Badass. But I believe the torsion bars were not bare steel. I believe they were painted black with a stripe. You may be right but I'm leaving themas they are since I forgot to paint the gas tank any way. I didn't try to get the chassis factory correct on this one anyway as i'm doing it as a "day two" car. The owner had it fully undercoated. that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
