Jordan 191 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I am visiting my parents and digging around in boxes. I found this build from 1989 when I was 13. I believe I was making the Aerotech into an IMSA racecar. I'm laughing at my engine choice and execution. I believe the wheels came from the Revell Pontiac Grand Prix.
1930fordpickup Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 (edited) Cool idea. Just get ride of the chevy engine. I think it looks fine the way it is , just find an Olds engine for it. Edited December 14, 2013 by 1930fordpickup
PappyD340 Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I think it looks great Adam, especially after 24 years!!
Jordan 191 Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 It's a cool kit. I'd like to strip it and build the actual Aerotech, but I can't find the rest of the parts and definitely not the long tail section.
Shardik Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Adam, P.M. me with your address. I have two of these kits and plan on building one as a short tail version, so I can send the long tail section to you.
Watertown Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 (edited) Nice job on the Aerotech, Adam. I have to tell you, though, as a kid growing up in Milwaukee in the very early ’60s, we lived next to a 'Red Owl' Food store and that big red owl sign was right outside my bedroom window. Scared the bejeezus out of me. I hadn't thought of that Red Owl in years, then I saw your avatar....I hope the nightmares don't come back! Edited December 15, 2013 by Watertown
Jordan 191 Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 That would be a scary image late at night! It's always been my favorite logo. Someday I will make up some decals and do some phantom Red Owl racecars.
slusher Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Very nice looking build. Looks just built..
bbowser Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 And you were only 13?! Great job. Leave it alone and build another if you wish, you can see how far you've come.
robertw Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Been watching some episodes of a TV show called Mystery Cars some of the footage shot at the Heritage center, They keep showing the Aerotec in the background, wish they'd do an episode on it and it would make me drag my old Monogram kit out of the stash.
Danno Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Nice. Even for 24 years ago; especially for a 13-year-old at the time.
