drodg Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 I wanted to post some pictures of my Revell Cuda build. I am painting it B5 blue. It is enamel from Scale Finishes. It has been a long time since I have painted with enamel through my airbrush. (maybe never?) I will be painting the body this week as I have been using Tim Boyd's tips from his quick build and Randy Bodkin's notes from his build on this sight. Thanks
RandyB. Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Very nice David. I will be following your progress!
slusher Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Nice progress and it looks great so far....
drodg Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 I used very thin Evergreen strips for the red stripes in the grill.
om617 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Nice! Looking forward to see it in that color.
kelson Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Looks good so far,any plans to add a vinyl roof or different wheels?
drodg Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 I am planning on building this with a side molding and no vinyl top. I do plan on using the Revell stock wheels. They are growing on me. I have attached a couple more pictures as I have finished the engine and I am now working on the interior. The dashboard woodgrain decal is a little tough to get to snug down.
RandyB. Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Engine looks great David...keep up the great work. I will pass along one tip......you will have to push your ignition wires down as tight to the top of the distributor as you can because you will have to trim a wee bit off the carbs so that the shaker hood sits low enough otherwise your hood won't fit down right on to the body. In order to get the shaker hood down you will have to push the ignition wires down. Just a heads-up.
66belair Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Nice work, got one of these on my to do list.
drodg Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 Two quick pictures of the interior from work I did yesterday. I plan on painting the body tomorrow.
slusher Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Very nice progress David, interior and engine look great...
Skypower Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Sweet I love them Cuda's, looks great so far.
Devilsnake98 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 All looks good, except the shifter is backwords lol.
drodg Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 All looks good, except the shifter is backwords lol. Well that is fixed! Oh my goodness. Thanks
drodg Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 I painted this afternoon with Scale Finishes B5 blue. It is enamel and it went on well. I have a question can I use like Tamiya clear on the paint? I have been using MCW's laquers for so many years I am really unfamiliar with enamel. Things are going well if not a little slow for me with the build. Thanks
RandyB. Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) Although I have never used Scalefinishes paint I would go with Testors glosscoat. I've use it on several enamel finishes without incident. Model is coming along nice. Great exterior colour and nice job on the interior! Edited December 28, 2013 by RandyB.
Johnny1973 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I use Testors One Coat Lacquer Clear over Scalefinishes paint.Let the paint gas out before you spray the clear.
drodg Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks for the input on the paint. I am really enjoying the build.
