FASTBACK340 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Two builds….. pathetic. One was pre-painted, the second never really finished. Gotta try harder this year.
disabled modeler Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 John there both very nice the woodie is SWEET!!!
FASTBACK340 Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks guys! I have a few yards chores to do as it's going to be in the 50's today, but the rest of the weekend I'm in the hobby room. Especially since they are predicting drenching rain all day tomorrow. My to-do list for this winter: `68 Barracuda shelf build `62 Lancer street machine `70 Barracuda And maybe a Chevy or VW just to mix thinks up…..
surfjunke Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Both builds are really nice work. The Edsel is killer, love the stance & wheels. The woodie is very cool!
bbowser Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 2 is better than none! Don't sweat it, it's a hobby after all. Life comes first. Happy holidays!
Ramfins59 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Hey John, don't sweat it man. You build what you can, when you can. When you get to be an old retired guy like me, then you'll have a lot of extra time for the hobby.
PappyD340 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 OUTSTANDING John, don't be so hard on yourself, I only got 3 done myself, like Rich said we just have to build when we can squeeze in the time!!
FASTBACK340 Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 My best year I built 13 pieces, all full detail and contest-class level. Back then I had a build buddy whom would continuously keep me going with dares, bets, and him out building me. I'd get 3 cars in magazines and he'd have 2, the next year he'd have 5 and me none. Over the years of building together he helped me improve in order to keep up with him. In my opinion, it was (so far…) the best time I ever had in the hobby. My build-buddy, Dave Dickash, passed away about 8 yrs. ago. Some fellow modelers have made the observation my involvement with the then hobby died also. In many ways it did. I just went up to work on the Barracuda and went into my toolbox for clamps. When Dave passed his wife gave me most of his modeling supplies. Every time I see or use something of his it hits me in a weird way. Dang…. I miss that guy. Dave in his Steel `32 Sedan
cobraman Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 It's not about the quanity is about the quality and I think you nailed that. Nice work !
Albie D Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Dont feel bad. Even though I had the best of intentions, I got just one build done this year. The pair sure look good though.
