Trailking120 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 The fall is here and the building season has began. This is my current project SSB resins Seagrave ladder truck 1 painting and letter it like Utica NY new Truck 1. The wheels and tires are from Jaime over at Mo aluminum. I painted the rims with Alchad Polished aluminum This the first of many mock up's . Looks like there is some grinding needed to get the rear to sit lower. Hi, Some in-progress pictures. I'm hand painting the slam locks and all the diamond plate surfaces. The hings on the compartment doors are getting bare metal foil. Some sub assemblies that are getting painted and awaiting to be put on.
tbill Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 looking good Justin! can't wait to see the completed build!
Trailking120 Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 Thanks guys as with most resin there is cleaning filling and sanding. That has taken the bulk of the time.
Pavel A. Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Justin this is great project. Very interesting truck. Good work.
kilrathy10 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) This is a great looking project, Man....I'm really liking this one....Makes me want one.... Edited December 31, 2013 by kilrathy10
Trailking120 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 Thanks Guys the scale is 1/24th. This kit came from SSB resins in LA.
modeltruckmafia Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Be careful when cleaning the ladder portion, Also you may want to reinforce the pin used to hold the rotating base to the truck. I found this out the hard way. BTW here is a link to the one I built. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.546261708765195.1073741891.123299601061410&type=1&l=a4e3a42395
Trailking120 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Thanks adam for advice the ladders were a bitch to clean up. I have around 22 hours into cleaning sanding and filling. Edited January 1, 2014 by Trailking120
Trailking120 Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) Here are some updates on this project. I haven't been working on it as much as I would like. Attending college full time is taking more time than a full time job. But anyway here are some of the things I have accomplished. The body is painted and attached to the frame as well as the drive wheels. I used BMF for all the compartment hinges. The cab is all painted and I happy with the results. M/M Classic black over Testors Dark Red. I just started to paint the sliver trim by hand. Edited February 1, 2014 by Trailking120
tbill Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 looking good Justin! you have till april to finish this up fantastic so far, keep at it
Chariots of Fire Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Glad to see one of those in the building stage. Lots of work that is for sure! You said you used BMF for the door hinges on the body. Are you using BMF on the chrome trim on the front as well?
Trailking120 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 I hope it is done for April. For the front i am painting it free hand. I may use BMF on the cab door hinges. I haven't decided yet. There will be gold BMF going around the cab between the black and red.
Johnny1973 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Great work Justin. You are doing a great job on all the hand paint details as well.
modeltruckmafia Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Thanks adam for advice the ladders were a bitch to clean up. I have around 22 hours into cleaning sanding and filling. Yep I took me months to get it right with still some mistakes.
Trailking120 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 I hope to get a chance to work on the ladders this coming weekend. I think just a little more sanding and a re prime and I hope that they are already for the a color coat.
