DreamChaser Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 So in the past week I have started my cobra. I plan on going with a new super for mange kind Of look. Keeping it an out of the box build. Also this is my very first build thread, not new to models, however new to this forum, as I mainly build 1/32 aircraft. I have shot the body with gloss black then shot it with model master true blue pearl, and cleared with future floor polish. I then tamiya polished it, and waxed with with meguiars Tech wax 2.0. I have painted the engine airframe aluminum from Alclad Lauquers. Thanks, for any support in advance. I also apologize for the horrible photos, I'll try to get some in natural light some afternoon.
Guest Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Nice so far. Built one of these, have another in the stash.
cobraman Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Nice start and very nice paint job. I kinda like Cobra's. : )
Jonathan Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 It is one of my favorite kits to build. I like that blue over black.
slusher Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Great looking color. Looks like radar blue. Solid start...
DreamChaser Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 Managed in day light to get some more photos of the shell. I feel these pictures more accurately present the colours Of the car, from my point of view. Progress on the engine to follow, will brake fluid de-chrome parts or is oven cleaner the best way to go?
donb Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Love Cobra's. Looking good. Will be watching. Thanks for posting.

I'd go oven cleaner. Nice start and very nice paint job. I kinda like Cobra's. : ) One of the biggest understatements EVER!
jaydar Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I use clorox bleach. It has never taken more than 10 minutes to remove the chrome. Joe PS. Welcime to the forum! It is a great place. Icame from 1/48 planes.
slusher Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 I use purple power. I keep a bottle under the sink. Clean chrome in less the an hour. Washes up great.
PappyD340 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Nice start and very nice paint job. I kinda like Cobra's. : ) I agree, looking real good! Come on Ray, "kinda" seriously!!
MeatMan Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Great paint! I'll be watching for tips as I've got a Cobra on the shelf for a future build. By the way, your airplane building jargon slipped in. Airframe?
DreamChaser Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Well I am back at it again. There was a death in the family, so I decided that I had to be there for my family, rather than recluse and building models. I will say that this kit builds really well, kind of hard to believe that it is from Revell. To Date I've laid down some aluminum and assembled pretty Much the chassis. I can't wait to wrap this thing up! Picture.
DPink Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Sorry to hear about that. I just had a scoutmaster from my Boy Scout troop pass away last week and he was like family to all of us.
DreamChaser Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Well I made some more progress today, things are nearing the end.
slusher Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Real nice progress, looks really good. Almost ready for under glass section..
