satterwhite78 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 With 5 "projects" going on at the same time and getting a little frustrated with each one at some point , I decided to take a different route....a simple one tone paint scheme, nothing fancy. Sometime back I had seen a photo of Al and Richard lined up together on pit road of Daytona for a photo op and wanted to do Al's ride, but like everything else something always takes over it gets pushed back. A Revell 68 Charger graces the Testors' Bright Red paint with decals from Southern Motorsport Hobbies (? on the maker). Inner fender wells removed and an front hoop fabricated, driver seat from the kit has an side bolster with the head rest made from an drinking straw capped at the ends, the frt/rear bumper guards removed and rechromed with SpazStix Ultimate Mirror Chrome #10009 spray and PPP rims. Unser qualified 8th at the 68 Daytona and finished 4th being the last car on the lead lap while Cale took the Checked followed by Lee Roy Yarborough and Bobby Allison
RobDD Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Wow,what a great job! Very nice.Great idea for the head rest. That's thinking outside the box.
JTalmage Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I love the "real" NASCAR's of the old days.Great representation of them!
bbowser Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 That's nice. Not many remember that Big Al could drive taxi cabs too!
bogger44 Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Oh yeah that is nice! Beautiful build and sharp photos as well.
Greg Myers Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 (edited) Good job. Great idea. there's so much more out there that's not a pointy nose / winged tail. Edited January 14, 2014 by Greg Myers
