Bennyg Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Hi fellas, made a start on this. Plan to paint the rims and mirrors black, and the interior different shades of black. It's fitting together well so far. I have recently learnt how to use an airbrush so I reckon the paint work will be far better than previous models. I'm on the tail end of a 1/24 Tamiya Porsche Carrera GT and 1/32 Mack R600. As soon as they are finished I will be hooking into this. Cheers. Ben
jaydar Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 You have my attention! Do you have the detail set and carbon fibre? Joe.
DrKerry Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 I'll be watching this one for sure. Wanting to get this kit myself along with the C.F. and P.E. sheets.....
Bennyg Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 You have my attention! Do you have the detail set and carbon fibre? Joe. Yep. I've only used photo etch on truck kits before and only done simple decals as well. I've decanted the paint. Will be doing paint prep and it should be ready for paint next week. Ben
cmfowler Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Have my attention as this kit is in my stash. Will be following.
Bennyg Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Small update. Got some paint sorted (not in pictures yet), but doing a lot of prep work on the body. Everthing is near perfect on test fitting. Using the sanding sticks on the body. Cheers. Ben
Belugawrx Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I really like those sanding needles,... Made in Canada eh? Where did you find those? Nice work so far Cheers
Chillyb1 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I like those sanding needles, too. They come from this company: http://www.alphaabrasives.com/hobby-abrasives.php Hobby Lobby has started carrying their products here in the US. I don't know where you Canadians can get them.
Bennyg Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Hi Fellas. Just a small update. Great kit. Trying real hard to get the body work right. Cheers. Ben
Bennyg Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Hi Fellas. Small update. I am stripping the primer from the body panels and re doing them with etch primer. It's a bit flakey. Heres my bit of progress. I'm surprised no one on this forum has finished a tamiya version. Cheers. Ben
maltsr Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Hi Ben, looking good so far, sorry to hear about the paintwork. I have this kit too, together with the decals and PE, but haven't had the courage to start it yet . Was waiting to see how you got on with yours first......

I have this kit too, together with the decals and PE, but haven't had the courage to start it yet . Was waiting to see how you got on with yours first...... I plan to get another one. I've got the decals as well but decided not to use them. I've bitten off more than I can chew with this project. I've been using the photo etch and that's been great. I usually build trucks. Car models are crazy. There is a really good article in the tamiya model magazine regarding the construction of the LaFerrari. I would have loved to have read that before starting this project. Will be saving to get another one on the go once I finish this one and get my Mack muster stuff done. Cheers Ben

maltsr Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Cheers Ben & Jonathan - when I clear a few projects from my bench, maybe I should start mine?
Bennyg Posted August 6, 2014 Author Posted August 6, 2014 Cheers Ben & Jonathan - when I clear a few projects from my bench, maybe I should start mine? It can't hurt. Definitely check that article though. It's in newsagents in Australia so should be in your news agents. Cheers Ben
Bennyg Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 This kit looks incredable great work Cheers mate. Ben
Bennyg Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Just a small update. It's down to the body panels now. Stiil stripping them for repainting. Not sure if I'm going to go to paint it yellow or red. Any suggestions? Ben
Tompidom Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Id go for red or dark metallic green! Looking good, keep it up.
Bennyg Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 Id go for red or dark metallic green! Looking good, keep it up. Jamiroquoi has a green LaFerrari. I didn't like it. Mind you, if he gave it to me, u wouldn't say no. I'm going with pure red with black roof, mirrors and rims. Ben
