Tom Geiger Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Very nice work, I've been watching! I have this kit and am thinking, since it's a low end Euro model, to build a German Post Office vehicle. I have some reference photos of same in bright yellow. It will go well with my current project, the East German Trabant postal vehicle!

It will go well with my current project, the East German Trabant postal vehicle! My next one, and yes I have a few more of these in the stash, will be done in Marine blue, I've also got a few of the 1500 Convertible to build, I might even make molds and cast the bigger Euro' bumpers, engine cover and high back seats and make a 1500 saloon,
GeeBee Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) Door handles fitted, now it's time to work on the windows, I always polish the windows using Novus # 2 before fixing them in place, it really makes the plastic look clearer and more like glass than clear plastic, I did a dry fit with the rear screen and noticed that you could see the orange bodywork through the screen, so I used a permanent black artists pens to colour the lip in black Edited November 2, 2014 by GeeBee
slusher Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Geoff I never would have guess of using Novus # 2 on the windows. That's a great tip..
GeeBee Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) Geoff I never would have guess of using Novus # 2 on the windows. That's a great tip.. It does make a difference, after the masking tape was removed it was given a wipe over with the Novus #1, Window masked up with Tamiya 18mm tape Window wiped over with Novus #1 and fixed in place using clear epoxy Edited November 2, 2014 by GeeBee
GeeBee Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Rear side windows painted and fitted, one front side window done in bmf, the frame is so thin, probably the hardest part I've ever had to cover in bmf
GeeBee Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 Fantastic bmf as usual Geoff. Thanks Shay, that wasn't easy, the window frame is so thin, oh well, only one more to do and the front screen to mask off and airbrush satin black, two wiper arms and she's finished.
Tom Geiger Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Geoff- Are you having both door windows rolled up? I usually like to roll at least one down for better interior viewing (and for fishing for parts if something inside becomes loose!) I think you can see in my photo where each window is rolled to a different position... I just think it adds interest to a model!

It would be nice, but the way the window is moulded with the frame, if not impossible, it would seriously weaken the frame
GeeBee Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 very nice bug sir! nice color choice. Thank you, this has been a very enjoyable build, the colour, VW Brilliant orange has been in the paint cupboard for around 20 years, I knew I'd find a use for it
