slusher Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 New gas coming and it will void some car warranties. watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceW9Nc1hVHU
Joe Handley Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I've gone well above that 15% in my '98 Cherokee via splash blending during the winter with the only issue being where I choose to do so at and how it has to be done at that location. Needless to say, I'm not worried in the least. If we had stations that would sell E15-E25 straight from the pump, I'd run that in it all the time. I'm actually more concerned about the Toluene that is present in gasoline and it's affects on my Jeep's plastic gas tank and any other plastics in the fuel system, since that is like blending Testors' Red Tube model cement into the gas.
Erik Smith Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Actually not real new - EPA approved it in 2012. Corn is King, brother! Let's see…worse fuel efficiency and massive - and it is massive - amounts of CO2 produced on farms growing corn…not to mention the massive - and it is massive - amount of fertilizer dumped on the ground and the waterways and eventually the Gulf...

I wouldn't worry too much about the toluene. Not all plastics are attacked by toluene, and IF the vehicle designers and engineers chose the CORRECT plastics for fuel-soaked applications, you should be just fine.
Dave Van Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) I do not understand the infatuation with corn produced ethanol......It is not environmentally friendly, cost efficient, it's not good for cars or people. But it has allowed artificially high prices for corn and thus an excuse for a increase in anything that might cross paths with corn.....food, transportation etc etc. At some place and time we will look back at this like we do the traveling medicine man. IF, and I say IF......ethanol is the solution (not saying it is) look to Brazil and their use of sugar cane and grasses to make it. Edited January 20, 2014 by Dave Van
