We have NASCAR & Drag racing but what about all the other forms of racing? F1, Sports Cars, Trans-Am, Endurance, WRC, Touring Cars (World, British, Australian). Le Man, Dakar, DTM, heck even Indy. Pleease?

It would be cool if you could add a poll to the topic and people could vote.I think it would be pretty sweet, motivates more people to post builds and more people to look at said posted builds. I have never seen an F1 car on here, I don't even know where to look for them! I support any growth and blossoming of the forum but, expect this to get locked soon. People seem to be afraid of change, even if it's little.

I don't think there would be a lot of traffic there. Now don't get me wrong, road racing is where my heart is and I have a few of them in my stash, but most of the people here are hot rodders or drag racers.

Austin, there are a couple of F1's posted in the last month. I hope I don't step on any toes for suggesting this but you may want to look here,

Thanks Oscar, some very cool stuff on that forum, but what I was meaning was F1 on the MCM forum. I hate to say it but where do they go? They are far from Nascar and drag racing. "Other" says anything that isn't a car and the previous mentioned race vehicles are cars. What if the Nascar catagory was renamed "Track racing" or something similar. Seems like you could take out more than few birds with one stone.

Maybe that 'new' catagory could be called 'Road Racing' and incorporate all it's form's. I mean 'most' of the racing in the world on the whole 'is' road racing, so I think the traffic there once established could be considerable, and , very educational. Look at the 'racing' models that Tamiya produces, almost (if not) all are 'road racing' models, so somebody is building them.

We could rebel and just start posting all our other racing car builds on the NASCAR forum.

 Seriously though, I think this could potentially bring in hundreds of new builders to the site. Harry and Casey will let us know.

It would be nice... having only NASCAR and Drag forums is a bit narrow. There are many other forms of motorsport that people build models of..I have a bunch of F1, Indy, endurance and road racing kits along w/ a few WRC subjects.

There are other forums out there dedicated to Formula 1, open wheel racing and road racing model building and they are plenty busy. I know of many builders on this site that frequent them as well, so there is certainly and interest.

Maybe combine drag and NASCAR into a Motorsports category?

We finally have F1 racing back in America and hopefully soon a 2nd US Grand Prix. And lots of people do 24 hours builds during Daytona and Le Mans. There is interest.

How about one conglomerate category for "racing"? Anything purpose built for racing. To keep it easy for the mods.

I think the fact we have a separate NASCAR and drag category makes no sense.

And I think that adding even more individual categories for F1, Indy, etc. makes no sense. As it is, we already have too many different places to post stuff, and I have to move stuff constantly because people keep posting in the wrong place. This very topic, for example. Posted in General, which clearly says model car or 1:1 automotive topics only.

I think we should have ONE Workbench section for all car models, and ONE Under glass section for all car models.

This. +1

I hate to say so but I'm pretty sure this topic has something to do with model cars, mainly since we are discussing model cars. As for adding catagories that doesn't have to happen, just renaming them to include more things could be done. For example circuit racing and straight line.

This topic has to do with rearranging and/or changing the forum, not about model cars.

The truck guys convinced us to separate their Workbench and Under Glass areas into two broad categories... Big rigs, and all the rest. Seems to be working pretty well for the truck guys.

I can see doing the same for the model cars area... Workbench and Under Glass for Street/Custom/Show Rods, and Workbench and Under Glass for Competition.

That's how I wanted to do it for a long time, but Gregg wants a separate NASCAR and drag section.
