Q tip Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Here's what I came up with . starting with the snap tractor and trailer, cut the sleeper off and build a new one,the trailer was the hardest thing to get reference on. I cut it down to a scale and went from there. Decals are from model truckin,. Comments are always welcome.....john
Q tip Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 thanks, not spot on like the resin kits, but for no more than the kit costs and a vision ,everyone can have one!
olsbooks Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I really like this one John. Gotta go in the "must do" list. I have only seen this kit in the box. But besides the sleeper, air deflector, and bull bar, was serious hacking/scratchbuilding required on the truck?
Old Buckaroo Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Well I certainly like it, excellent workmanship !
Q tip Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 everything that had to do with r.d. was 100% scratch. that was easy, the trailer was difficult due to the lack of pics. and info on it. it started its life hauling tar, and I found how long it really was . other then that it was based from grainy pics.
Bennyg Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Nice work. I would like to do one as well. Ben
Brinx Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Very well done Q-tip! I have one of those kits set aside with the same intention. Nice work engineering the RD parts (source for the decals?) I think you made the kit's trailer work quite well. brinx
towman1271 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Don't know how I missed this the first time around! Amazing job converting that snap kit. And you're right, no where near the cost I put into mine i'm sure! Curious what you used to make the rear hubs to cover the ugly snap post! Anyway, again an awesome job
Kenny B Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 John, Don't know how I missed this on the first go round. Very nice job well done. Ken.
kilrathy10 Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 That goes double for me....Not sure how this one slipped by....Great job on this one, John....Hope you're doing ok....Haven't seen anything from you in a while.....Awesome job....I don't do 1/32 scalers very often, but there are some pretty cool offerings out there....This is one of the coolest I've seen....
