Modelbuilder Mark Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) A parts box compilation for a Yahoo group I belong to. Not sure how much wire and line detailing this one will get, as I am trying to have it done by the first of Feb....LOL, Yeah, right. More logos etc to come, it will be Sam N Ella's Organic Produce. Anyone on here capable of printing decent decals from a file? 29 Ford body Revell Grill I made from fenders a few months back frame is I think from an old 32 Ford kit Here is where I am so far.. Bartster Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Is that an Edsel grille ? Nice use of the old Chevy fenders !
crazyrichard Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 ooh yes !! cooool !!btw i could replicate this hahaha i have that same body , i have that same engine and header ... hahahahaloving this !!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 (edited) Thanks guys! Yeah Bart, that was one of two grills I made a few months after a fellow builder was so insistent I try that he mailed me the fenders. I just used both the front and back sections of the fenders. Not sure I will use it or not, depends on how the front end works out. My biggest issue on this one, is my rush to try to finish it by next week. I will only have a few bench session between now and then, so if design issues I have not yet worked out, like front axle placement, get in the way then I may just use another grill. I actually made two, a "new" one and the "used" one. I think I left them too long, but hey, they were Edsels, right? Here are both together. Thanks Richard, but if you build the same one, it will likely shame mine! The bottom of the bed was a cut away section from an old Lindberg 32 Ford pickup bed that was very square, no tie to the real thing. It was more of a battery box really, I just cut the bottom section off for the base of this bed, and the wood is coffee stirs and scale lumber from the hobby shop. crazyrichard Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 axle will fit if you file a slot into the bottom that slides over the grille , just like i did on my bonneville ford i'm doing , i had the same issue
Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) Thanks everyone. I managed to get quite a bit of time at the bench this weekend. There was a lot of little things like modifying the styrene tie rod to have the rod made from music wire, same for the steering linkage etc, but since there was a lot of little things this weekend, I did not get pictures of it all. BTW, still interested if anyone out there can take a file and print them to decal for me. Built a little frame work to hold the bed. The mounting points were missing so I fabricated some from styrene tube. sine this truck will be representing a working shop truck for a small farm, it will be dirtied up more than rusted out finally up on all fours you can kind of see where I am headed Edited February 4, 2014 by Modelbuilder Mark
Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Well, it was a nearly full day at the bench today. This started out to be a simple project, for a club theme contest, but, I just could not leave well enough alone. Had to fix that big hole in the floorboard, so I rook some material and some plastruct and made up a boot The enterior has to have some junk, and a car mag of course. Battery Box and Coke can for the overflow reservoir ALMOST done. Most of the sub-assemblies are done, just drying. Final assembly is all that I have left.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Thanks guys, you know what they say about the best laid plans, but I SHOULD have it done this week sometime. Depends on how I feel when I gethome from work each night. I work 10 hour days, so with the drive etc, I am gone from home about 13+ hours each day. Sometimes when I get home, it is clean up, eat, go to bed! LOL The up side is, most often I get three day weekends!
crazyrichard Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) oh well no hurry right ? and you should only build when you really feel like it ... Edited February 11, 2014 by crazyrichard
