Sixties Sam Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I just finished this Revell 49 Merc woody. Nice kit, went together well. OOB build. Paint is Krylon Celery spray can. Wood framing was brushed with Testors flat brown. Kit decals used for the dark panels. Wet look clear over everything. No wiring or extra engine details - just a basic build, but I like it! Those old Ford woodies are cool!Comments welcome! Oops, I just noticed the gas cap is missing - must have fallen off. Oh, well!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Really cool and well done!! Loved the color.
bpletcher55 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 nice job ,those are great kits and they just fall to gather,
Joker Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Celery color suits the woody panels like peanut butter on celery sticks. What's your tip on the panel rivets ?
Ramfins59 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 That looks really great Sam. I can't wait to get one of these kits.
Chris White Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 so nice, got to get me one of them. How was it to put together
cuatom8 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Very cool, and nice job on that wood work! +1
Sixties Sam Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Thanks for all the compliments, guys. I enjoyed this build! Joker, the rivets got a dab of Testors silver paint marker - real easy. Chris, the kit went together well with the only fit issue being with the hood hinge tabs hitting something on the chassis or interior. I cut the tabs down a little and it fits perfectly. One piece of advice: ream out the small holes for the door handles, tailgate handle, mirror, and taillights. They were all too small after painting. Sam
GeeBee Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Beautiful build, just hope mine comes out as good as this one ....
realgone58 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Man, that's sharp! I love that color, I've used it on a couple builds. Testors flat brown looks great on the wood framing, and you 'd never know those were decals on the inlays.
Sixties Sam Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Al, I was pleased with how easy the kit woodgrain decals went on. I generally hate decals - they never seem to fit, they often have visible clear outlines, etc. I dry fitted each of these decals and trimmed about 1/32" off of them, then soaked them and slid them on. It seemed to work well. Thanks again everyone for your generous compliments. I appreciate them! Sam
Terry Jessee Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 That's beautiful. The color is just perfect. The wood panels and framing are really sharp. Cool. Terry
f1ford48 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 well done -I like the service station too....
