yellowsportwagon Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 (edited) Elmo Langley's 1972 Gran Torino Sport. Edited February 8, 2014 by yellowsportwagon
Nacho Z Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I don't recall ever seeing that car before. Looks like you are off to a good start.
yellowsportwagon Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Going to have to make the decals. I can't find a font that is exactly like these numbers. May have to start from scratch.
Bill J Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Check with Dave Van, he makes Elmo Langley decals for an earlier Torino and I seem to recall the numbers being the same.
yellowsportwagon Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 The only set ofElmo Langley decals I've seen have yellow numbers. How would I get in touch with Dave Van?
PappyD340 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 NICE project, now that's a name I haven't heard in years!
yellowsportwagon Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Got some more done on the chassis. Stretched 90's Thunderbird.Re did some of the upper rollbar to better fit the Torino body.
yellowsportwagon Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Kind of stuck on how to do the decals. I can't find a font that matches correctly.
TooOld Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 That's looking really good Tim ! I really like what you're doing . I thought there was a font like that in MS Word ( I used it on my McLaren build ) but I don't recall the name . Dave Van is a member here , look him up in the members list . By the way . . . I've always felt that Elmo deserves a spot in the Hall Of Fame for all the years spent racing and driving the pace car . I talked with him a few times and he was a great guy ! Same goes for Harold Kinder .
yellowsportwagon Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 There is a font called Impact that I similar but the inside of the holes is rounded not squared like the car has.
yellowsportwagon Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 Finally got the door numbers done.Next for the roof.
TooOld Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 The numbers look good ! This is gonna be really nice when it's finished !
VW93 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Great subject and work. Nice to see a model built of one of the "Independents" . Not al the racers had a huge budget back then & NASCAR could never have a full field if it weren't for the litle guys
yellowsportwagon Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 Thanks for the compliments. This car is one of my favorites.Elmo raced for years as an independent, people like him were Nascar.
