This is the kit I just finished for a customer. It's a replica of his car. Started off with Historic Racing Miniatures kit and did several modifications, such as putting in the bumps in the hood. Also putting in four tail lights instead of two and some other small things. I enjoyed the process of building it. Feel free to comment. If you get a chance, look at the build up on the "Work Bench" section. Thanks for looking.

Hello there friend! Jus wanted to say I have been watching this build from the bench to finally a beautiful finished. I have never seen a picture of a cheetah until you posted some time ago. I only heard about it as a kid. They mentioned it looked like a old corvette stingray. I could see some similarities. Thank you for posting your work both progress and finished. very clean build. Keep on wit the keepin on. :P

Peace

Very nice work Brendan.

One of my all time favorite cars and you did one proud. The best part is that you pride yourself on making sure it's a clean build. That's the first thing I look for in a model car.

Congratulations

So what's next?

Brendan,

I also followed the build. GREAT WORK!! The finished pics look great!! I'm sure that your customer will be really pleased with the model. Builds like that are hard to part with.

Keep up the good work and the posts!!

Thanks for the comments. This is a kit that is not going to be hard to part with since I have another one already built of the racing version of the car. I'm hoping when I deliver the car that he'll let me get into the real one and take it for a spin.

As for my next project, I have quite a few. The one I'm starting on now is a Profil24 Porsche 997 Race Car and being built along side of it is going to be Studio 27 Peugeot 908. I'll keep you posted.

Great build! I was another one who followed the build thread. I never heard of a Cheetah until this year. That's funny because I am a car guy from early childhood. I could name every car on the road from a very early age. Oh well, I haven't been able to do that for years now, so it doesn't matter anyway! :) They sure do look sexy though. They also look like they could level out a balance scale with a paper weight on the other tray! Any idea what the 1:1 weighs?

jbwelda,

I bought both my kits through Strada Sports. There are two versions of the kit. One with louvres and one without. The louvred kit would have to be a special order. The kit is definitely worth the price.

dub,

I'm not real sure what the curb weight was for the actual car, but it's pretty light. It probably is the same or somewhat lighter than the Cobras. The car was built to be a "Cobra Killer" but unfortunately they never got GM's backing. So they had to race in a class that was for prototypes. Most of the cars were made of aluminum. Some of the cars had aluminum bodies, but they switched to fiberglass later on. They were all powered by Corvette motors, either fuel injected or carborated. Some of the cars were even set up to drag race.

The actual car that I did the kit for is either the last or the second-to-last Cheetah produced. There's no information about it. He came up with his car to where I live because the person who built the cars lives about 30 miles away from me. He confirmed it to be one of the last Cheetahs ever made. You'll probably see more of them at Historic Races because a company is now making a kit version of them.

As with all others from you, this turned out beautiful. Great execution of a great subject. Thanks for sharing!

I was lucky enough to see Harold Bradford bring the Cheetah to life little by little as he was preparing the kit, and bringing it to the MAMA meeting from time to time.

Yours is absolutely fantastic!.............You should send pics to Harold-----(I think he has email). He'd surely appreciate the terrific job you did! :)

Those of you who are into vintage racers......you owe to yourself to try one of his kits! I've got his Cobra Daytona Coupe, as well as the Corvette Grand Sport Roadster.

Harold gives you everything you need to make a beautiful model as can surely be seen by Brendan's Cheetah!

You are right Bill, we are surely lucky to have Harold as one of our club members as well as Norm, they really are the best resin casters anywhere. This build is fantastic, I will have to make plans to buy one myself....... :)

Lyle,

Thanks for showing my pictures to Harold.

I sent pictures to my customer. Both he and his wife were really pleased on how it looked and how it turned out. He is looking forward to receiving it in March. He did give me permission to show it at the NNL WEST this coming year.
