olsbooks Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 This is going to be a cool project. So enjoy when people kick in the creative thinking and make something out of nothing.
Darren B Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 sorry for the 3 year hiatus on this one but back in the saddle, getting the frame together.
Darren B Posted August 16, 2017 Author Posted August 16, 2017 also opened up some gauges on the dash will model them with missing gauges and wire hanging thru them....
Darren B Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 did not like the molded on starter so will scratch one...
Darren B Posted August 17, 2017 Author Posted August 17, 2017 deciding if I should fill the holes or open them up as if the lights have been removed.....

Mr. Horsepower 78 Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Looking good so far. Here's one I built a while ago
Darren B Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 Looking good so far. Here's one I built a while ago Jay, that thing is killer!!!! I love the color and the chop top. Wish I had done that before cutting out the doors. I also like the front end, I am not big on scratching a leaf system like the one they built on the other forum. I may go your route......... thanks for sharing.
Darren B Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 Jay do you have a link to your in progress build of the rod? Curious as how you set up the rear end as well.
Darren B Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 I thought this was going to be easy took my time to cut each piece the same exact lengths and it is not staying level. Clamped it to a piece of glass and a soda can to try to get it level. May have to come up with another frame idea.....
Chariots of Fire Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Here's a real one I took photos of a couple of weeks ago. Only difference: It's a KW!
Chariots of Fire Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I thought this was going to be easy took my time to cut each piece the same exact lengths and it is not staying level. Clamped it to a piece of glass and a soda can to try to get it level. May have to come up with another frame idea..... Darren: Take the spacers out and use the glass as a base to clamp the separate frame rails on. Clamp some strip stock to the glass to act as a guide for placement and spacing of the rails. Then reattach some new spacers that just fit inside. The frame rails will have to be level if you cut all of the strips the same. Hope this helps. Trying to force it to become level just won't work.
