Zarana-X Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) This is the current Monogram Shelby Cobra road car. I built this for my son. He got it for Christmas, and he's never even touched a kit before. This is a fine enough kit, but it's not something you throw at a first timer to make them cry in frustration (tiny parts, windows & stripes, *cough*). I showed him how to read the instructions, test fit and remove parts from the sprue without ruining them. He also got some military armor kits, he's gonna work on those, as it would be easier to fix mistakes without making them look like a horrible mess. Its not perfect, more orange peel than I would've liked, but its good. Edited February 18, 2014 by Zarana-X
slusher Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Very sharp model. Keep working with him, I have been working with my son also...
jaydar Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Pretty good. It is a first kit. Model building is a lot harder when they have to turn out shiny with a mile deep gloss. Take it from a guy who build airplanes and sprayed them flat after decals. That final clear coat never got a second thought. and Dust was CHARACTER...... don't over complicate this for him. it has to be fun.
vamach1 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 The wheels look good. I have not built one with those rims.
Zarana-X Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 The wheels were his choice, I preferred the wire spoked wheels.I'm thinking the excessive orange peel (clearcoat) may be from improperly washing the body after the blue basecoat was polished.
the goon Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 It's a Cobra ! What's not to like ? : ) Nice job Mark
