I want to add an early modified to my collection of racers and noticed that only AMT seems to have done any.

Of the AMT kits, which one is the best as far as kit quality and appearance? From my Google search the '34 Ford kit looks real good.

Any advice here would be kindly welcome.

MPC issued four modifieds in the same time period with (I've been told) '57 Chev chassis, including the '34 Ford you mention. They shared a common engine as well (BB Chev?). The others were a '36 Chev, a Pinto and a Vega. They have all been reissued along with the Tobias cars Art mentioned under the AMT logo in the last few years.

Someone more familiar than me with the 1:1 cars can answer the accuracy question. Quality-wise, they're all old tools that require some patience to work with (especially the Tobias cars).

Tobias cars? I'm not familiar with the term.

Tobias was a builder of tube-framed dirt track race cars in the East back in the 60's and 70's, sort of the "AJ Watson" or "Frank Kurtis" of that type of dirt track racing.

I don't know much about subject matter but isn't there a CO. That is called DTR that does some modified

DTR's kits are merely the AMT Dirt Track Modified cars packaged under their own name.
