Here is my new project mocked up . I don't like Revell chassis so I used a MPC Nitro Bird and cut it down to length . I also rearched the front axle and I'm going to have to use smaller diameter front tires to get the nose down . Here are somes pics and I'll start on the decals next week , I don't know if these decals will be for sale I think I want to keep them for myself only

Is this the foundation for the Satellite that MPC released? If not, this is one Muldowney car I don't remember seeing before.

The chassis is the longer chassis like the Mustang , it came in the Omni , Corvette , and the Firebird's . The car I'm doing was only raced 3 times that I know of and the pics above are the only ones I have ever seen of the car

Chuck - if you say the chassis of choice for this build would be similar to the "Mustang", do you mean one of the Revell 1/25 scale Mustangs like the recently released (6 months maybe) HOT ROD or Kalitta car?

I almost owned the real Road Runner version of this body style when I was still in H.S. The car was either a 383/440 and had been modded in places. It was primered and sitting on a big Chevy used car lot in Fairfax Va. I think it even had a 6pt roll bar installed if I remember. My folks took one look and said forget it. I had previously owned a '68 RR I got from a cousin for $250. It needed engine work and the Cragars were rusted. I sanded the wheels and shot the spokes with heat wrinkle black used for valve covers. Everyone wanted those wheels! It was a 440 4bbl, Hurst 4sp and 4:11 gears that made it a light to light demon. Man it burned oil from the valve seals lol. :D

Sweet looking mockup. If you're not going for that totally 1:1 look, try the Pegasus front funny car rims/tires. They're drop dead knock-offs from today's F/C front rims. If you don't already have decals, try SLIXX or Firebird Designs for custom work.

BTW, if you look at image #7, you can clearly see what looks to be Connie K. watching Shirley make her pass...

Chuck, I am new to the site. I tried your link and it said it is closed down. Are you doing business under a new name? I have been looking for a satellite body can you recommend anyone? Great looking Build!!!!! Jwrass

James, you can get a Satellite body from Southern Motorsports Hobbies. Look under Decals and Resins > SMH Resin > page 11. It's at the top of the page and goes for $30.00.

Chuck, I got my body, thanks for the tip!!!! Are you going to use the paint scheme as shown on your pictures? Are you going to use decals? I can't find any like that scheme. I have been doing 1:1 Custom Painting for some 35+ years and I have already looked at color chips and have a good handle on what and how it was applied. I own a small sign shop with vinyl cutters and printers. I plan on taking reference material scaling it to 1:25, do a tape out on the body make a Vector image and cut masking material to do the graphics in paint. if you already have those measurements I will cut you masks in exchange. I don't want to be a copy cat but of all the funnies she drove I always liked that paint scheme the best. Let me know your thoughts!
