jaydar Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Im Just using Testors one coat "Wet Look Clear" wetsanded and polished. Thanks
Bowtienutz Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Another nice Mustang build. I can't wait to get one. Who makes the Italian olive for the undercarriage.
mademan Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Well, a couple of complications have reared their ugly head...... 2 Areas of difficulty have been the Rear diffuser and front "chin spoiler" Both were masked with Tamiya yellow tape, which I never have bleed issues with. Both areas are a bit harder to mask because of the contours. The rear is fixable, I can just mask sand and respray the actual bumper and it will clean up good. The front however I am taking a different approach. I have a half case of these kits, as I want to use a few of them for donors etc. I will be removing the chin spoiler from the messed up bumper and repainting it, I will then use a good undamaged chin spoiler from a donor kit, and paint it separately and attatch it to the good bumper. It should have been done in 2 pieces from Revell in *My Opinion, such as the 2010 Camaro SS fascia assembly was.
mademan Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Bumper and Spoiler separated, Both are in Primer now and waiting for paint.
superbike-shaun Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 hey mademan, just a suggestion, try using silly putty,to mask those stupid contours, you can get it at (...)almart,toys r us etc.it leavesa perfect line no bleed thru.so you dont have to cut up any more of those bitchen kits.shaun.s
mademan Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Got started on the interior/ various black parts. A buddy used to have a cool shifter on his Mustang GT.... so I used a custom etched piece to replicate it
mademan Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Got the front Grille surround decal in place. I don't know what Id do without Micro sol, that decal definatly would not have went down this smooth. All cleared and ready for final polish and assembly/
jaydar Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 How many coats of Wet Look Clear do you spray before polishing?
