Nate Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'm not a huge fan of the super duty trucks, but this kit is amazing! Great work so far!
Casey429 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 As the owner of a 1:1 6.4L Power Stroke Super Duty, I must say the engine is dead on. It's all there, both EGR coolers, VGT controller, fuel cooler, filters, oil fill, all of it. Nicely done.
charlie8575 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 When I have the money, I'm buying one, ugly or not. This effort deserves the support. Charlie Larkin
martinfan5 Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 I guess I should update, and if I hadnt been screwing around, I probably could of almost finished this one up a few days ago, but no, so what I have done so far, well, lets take a looks see shall we painted the engine are black, primer in the interior are, and you can see that all the sink marks are on the inside painted the fan , and installed started work on the interior I did not upload the pic, but I put a piece of sheet plastic behind the compartments on the door panels and a few shots of the seats in color And finally decided on a color, one of things that has been slowing me down, yes, boring white .
mikemodeler Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Its getting closer to being done! Looking great, can we expect it to be done by the weekend?
martinfan5 Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 Its getting closer to being done! Looking great, can we expect it to be done by the weekend? I am hoping in the next few days
SlotDaddy1963 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 looking good, Jonathan needs a coffee mug in one of those cupholders
Matt T. Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Got mine on Monday. Thought I saw some flash on the bottom of the bed sides... it's stamping detail like on the 1:1. Amazing. Such a nice kit! Can't wait to get started on it... Jonathan, your's is looking good. I've seen a bunch of 1:1s online in white that I like. Are you doing the beltline/wheel arches in another color (tan, gray)?
SlotDaddy1963 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 just a quick question... does this beast have the step-up and grab handle molded into the inner tailgate or are they separate pieces? just looking at a buddy's 1:1 yesterday and got a bit curious
martinfan5 Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 Chuck, it just has the handle, no steps Matt, plain white I was hoping to of had this one finished last night, but the hobby gods decided they didnt like that idea, I found the major flaw in this kit, when you put the side window pieces in, the cab will not sit correct over the interior , it all has to do with the side window pieces, with out those in place, the body fits perfect , so in the process of trying to figured out what was going on , I chipped a good size piece of paint off , down to the bare plastic , so I am trying to strip the cab so I can repaint it.
SlotDaddy1963 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) oh no! I was looking forward to this one going under glass... looks to be a hell of a kit. You gonna try brake fluid or what? Edited April 25, 2014 by SlotDaddy1963
martinfan5 Posted April 25, 2014 Author Posted April 25, 2014 oh no! I was looking forward to this one going under glass... looks to be a hell of a kit. You gonna try brake fluid or what? I used Tamiya paint, so I am trying alcohol right now, but its not doing a whole lot
SlotDaddy1963 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Purple Power I think, works well on acrylics... but I've been wrong before, Just ask the wife
martinfan5 Posted April 26, 2014 Author Posted April 26, 2014 Purple Power I think, works well on acrylics... but I've been wrong before, Just ask the wife Tamiya sprays are a synthetic lacquer
Ridge Rider Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 What a bummer it was nice looking paint but thanks for the info on things to look out for. I thank you for sharing as this is a kit I plan to build. Someday- with the rest of the someday.
66belair Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 That is some nice work! That kit looks a amazing, definitely going to have to spend the money on few of these. I work on these for a living and it looks pretty accurate. Can't wait to see it finished.
martinfan5 Posted April 27, 2014 Author Posted April 27, 2014 Cab has been repainted, I should hopefully get this one finished soon, well, going for attempt number two
kilrathy10 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Man, I can't wait to get me a few of these.....Thanks for posting this build.....Looks awesome.....
keone2013 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Did you use the stock tires? I scrapped mine and used a set from a jeep rubicon kit
crazyrichard Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 not real boring imo in white , with black details it will really pop
martinfan5 Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 I am not sure if I am ever going to get this one finished, got the body repainted, got the trim repainted, and of course, this time, removing the tape after doing the trim, pulled up some paint/primer , right about the drivers side door, trying to fix it, but its not going so well, so I am thinking about my options, I can try and strip it again, or I can grab the cab from the second kit and paint that one, either way , I am still going to have to repaint and strip at this point I , buy more white paint.
Guest Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 If you cut the tape around the trim with your Xacto blade, that's probably why the paint peeled off. That's the only time I ever have a problem with paint pulling up with tape is when I have cut on the tape.
