Just noticed that the 29' ford looks strikingly similar to the highly sought after "Blue Beetle" kit, even bears a similar name. Do you think they may restore some of the parts back to that issue?

The Blue Beetle parts will be restored for the upcoming Blue Bandito.

Blue Bandito...hmm...how about Blue Burrito. :) Not familiar w/ the Blue Beetle..are there many differences between the original version and the later Monogram '29 Ford pickups (I see the different wheels and tires) ?

Yeah, quite a few things different on the Blue Beetle version:

- solid and 5-spoke mag wheels (vs. generic slotted 70's wheels)

- whitewall front bias-ply tires and M&H slicks (vs. ugly 70's wide tires)

- early Ford style brake plates (vs. flat finned)

- Cadillac script valve covers (vs. finned)

- 6 carburetor intake (vs. tunnel ram with 4-bbl's)

- pleated firewall (vs. plain)

- pleated bucket seats (vs. bench)

- roll bar (vs. nothing)

I'm wondering what color they'll mold the kit.A problem with the original issue was the interior was molded in white and the bucket seats were molded in blue.

GMS has one on eBay. From what I can see in the photo, the box side looks to have a picture of the truck with surfboard in the bed and scuba accessories laid out on the ground next to it. Also appears to have an optional tonneau cover for the bed. Stoke!

According to Ed Sexton, it's supposed to be identical to the original except for the "Cadillac" lettering on the valve covers. He also said it would be molded in blue, but probably not the original shade of blue. I hope the parts that were molded in white in the original kit still are. I didn't think to ask him. Replicas and Miniatures Co of MD. offers resin copies of the original valve covers if anyone wants to make a 100% authentic version
