mikemopar70 Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 I remember Academy models have done the Hyundai Pony and the Excel back in the days!!
sak Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 POS that is killing America. But nice to see it in plastic. There was a time when I refused to drive a four door automobile. Had to a coupe. Powerfull motor. But now I don't care butt ugly it is, as long as its reliable and great fuel economy. If American car companies want to get a bigger piece of the pie, why not develope a car that gets 60-70 MPG. THAT will get peoples attention. OR..give the people a better way to customize thier cars. By that I mean..if I want heated seats or a moonroof, I should'nt have to order a whole package of options. Buying a car nowadays is like choosing a cable package. You have to buy alot garbage to get a few good channels.Always amazes me that car companies are cramming more and more gimmicks into the cars. Foot pedals to raise tailgates, backup cameras..etc etc. Sure would be nice if each company released just ONE model with a basic stereo, roll up windows..but small and go a month between fill ups. I'm sure we have the technology. Sorry for the rant. Bob
iBorg Posted May 3, 2014 Posted May 3, 2014 My only complaint is the subject matter. There are several Kia's and Hyundais I'd much prefer in kit form. I really find the Veloster appealing (yes my taste can be questioned). I'd also wouldn't mind a Genesis. I'd would really like a Tiburon.

It's a mid-model car - not real luxury, not real sporty - kind of Camary-ish or something. The Veloster is a neat car and performs fairly well in the turbo model - while still maintaining some efficiency. I would have seriously considered buying one if it had five seats (I have an Elantra GT instead). Don't get me wrong - I LIKE odd, mid-level type stuff. I just find it weird Academy picked this car out of the Korean line...
CJ1971 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) I remember Academy models have done the Hyundai Pony and the Excel back in the days!!The Excel was kitted?? Was it a late '90s model ( 97-98?? I have a really good friend that owned 1 & would love to make a replica for her! ? Any idea where I could find 1? I've tried many sources, including EBay, but have come up empty... ? Is this the kit you're talking about?? Edited May 9, 2014 by CJ1971
martinfan5 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 I remember building that Excel kit when I was kid, my happened to own at the same time

martinfan5 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I know so many of you are very excited for this one, so you all should be happy to know that you can pre order it now from your favorite direct from Japan hobby stores, and Tower Hobbies has it listed, so I am sure your favorite plastic provider might have it for pre order as well. Current pre order pricing is $22/23 , Tower has it listed for $23 as well , release date is showing July
niteowl7710 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Also notice that it's officially an Azera for the export release in July, not the SKDM specific Grandeur markings it had for it's South Korean release.

Thank you for adding that, I completely spaced it, which means that we can build a US Spec version Edited June 9, 2014 by martinfan5
charlie8575 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Thank you for adding that, I completely spaced it, which means that we can build a US Spec version I'm probably going to grab one. I have to be honest, it isn't a bad-looking car. Having rode in a first-generation Azera, I was very impressed with it. I would seriously consider one if I couldn't find something that's still a little closer to my liking. Charlie Larkin
drball Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 POS that is killing America. But nice to see it in plastic. Wow, to think there are still people that think like that. Bobik

johnbuzzed Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I'd really like to see the same company produce a Genesis coupe, Veloster or even a Sonata. I would most definitely get one (of each).
Brett Barrow Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 (edited) Got to see a built up at MRC's booth a IPMS Nats. Believe it's a snap kit. Theirs had the clear roof, nice to see there's a tinted (or solid?) roof as well Edited August 10, 2014 by Brett Barrow

charlie8575 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Interesting, do you have a choice of a big sunroof or a solid roof? I would prefer to do a solid-roof car (it's how I'd order it.) Charlie Larkin
Austin T Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I Like the way they call the kit a snaptite Oh my gosh that is hilarious! When was the last time we saw "Intuitive" describing the skill level of a model car? I'm kinda interested but I have to agree with John, A genesis/Velostar/sonata would be more interesting to me.
Bill Eh? Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 This looks like a great "slump-buster" style of kit. Much more detailed than the 2015 Mustang Easy Kit. I know it is more expensive, but I think Revell has over-simplified their entry level kits. I like the way they have the separate door inserts on the chrome sprue.
