espo Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 If it feels good, do it. As others have told you the Merc. didn't get used as a gasser that often because of its weight. You should remember that the Gas Classes are set by weight and engine displacement . So just about anything will work depending on the class you want to run in. Back in the late sixties there was a group of guys that did very well at the Pomona Winter Nationals in a '50 or '51 Packard with a 283 Chevy and a Powerglide . These guys marched thru eliminations and did very well because of the handicap system. So build it already.
