chadrob30 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 I bought this from a buddy who got it in a storage auction. Never been opened until I opened it for pictures. I didn't take it out of the plastic. Great detail and even has scratches and weathering like Sam Walton's truck. Not a lot of info out there, but from what I can find it seems that they were made for Walmart back in 1994. They were taken to top producing stores and auctioned off for the highest bid. Only store employees could bid, and they were not available for sale.
Rob Hall Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Interesting...never seen a Sam Walton truck in that scale, have the Hot Wheels 1/64th. Is supposed to be mud or rust on the roof?
chadrob30 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Yes, it's supposed to appear weathered. There are scratches in the paint, and mud in the bed....didn't open the doors or hood since I didn't take it out of the package but it appears from other photos that the underhood detail is great.
chadrob30 Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 More pics from another site. http://denxart.blogspot.com/2011/05/1979-ford-f150-pickup-truck-sam-waltons.html
AzTom Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 These are from around 2003/2004. The story was they were a promotional gifts to Wall Mart managers, never heard the auction deal before. I tried hard to get my hands on one back in the day but was unsuccessful. I seem to remember talk about it having an automatic but having a clutch and floor shift. I always thought it was odd that a regular version didn't show up using the tooling. Nice truck.
chadrob30 Posted May 10, 2014 Author Posted May 10, 2014 Yea, it has the automatic transmission in it, but also the clutch pedal and manual shifter. It also has Chevy hubcaps. And you are correct, it was 2004, not 1994.
Chuck Most Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I've never seen the truck, but I do have that dog kennel floating around in my spares box.
THarrison351 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Yea, it has the automatic transmission in it, but also the clutch pedal and manual shifter. It also has Chevy hubcaps. And you are correct, it was 2004, not 1994. Sorry to dispute you, but those are Ford truck hubcaps, Used from about 1980 to the mid nineties
Outlaw_Pitbull_0411 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) I'm a chevy guy but would love to get my hands on that and slam it with billet style wheels n a sick paint job cool truck Edited May 20, 2014 by Outlaw_Pitbull_0411
Outlaw_Pitbull_0411 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Yea there Ford hubcaps although chevy also had hubcaps that resembles those to the untrained eye I can see how one would confuse them for chevy caps
