Al I'm just not building to my own expectations I guess, sure it looks okay, but it's just not good enough to me for some reason

dude!! I can build the best award winning model EVER (never have, but we can dream) and my eyes will always catch something. even in my work, I find flaws, other people think its wonderful, it's in a lot of things you do. you are your own worst enemy and hardest critic. as soon as you get over that hump, you will be better off. not saying that you will stop judging your builds, but you will learn to live with it.....

that's also how you get better, never be satisfied.... happy, yes. always think you can do better.

Jason, you will always be your own worst critic. You will always know of the little flaws in your builds, as we all know of those in our own. You'll always think you could have done better- we all feel the same way, no matter how well a model turns out or even how well it might do in contests. I look at stuff that I built 10, 15 or twenty years ago and think : "If I only did...". That's just the way it is, and it makes us strive to do better in the next build, the one after that, etc. You do the best you can each time- even for a snap kit. That's all one can ask of one's self.

Thank you John. My favorite part of building is fabricating my own parts, everything I can make myself to make it more realistic I attempt to do.

Wow! While I spent time at Alastaro Raceway Drag Racing with the '74 Chevelle you have made lots of progress! The body looks fantastic. The paint job and color are sweet, but those windows made my jaw to hit on the floor. Nice job painting the window surrounds black, a thing I've never succeeded in. I also like the chute and the mount on it, it looks just like 1:1 scale part. That On/Off Switch is a very nice touch, too. That has never came to my mind while building a model. Now I need to make one for my Stock Eliminator Torino. ;)

Thank you Niko, this is the first time I've ever done this as it's the newest model I've built. I surprised myself with them, the lines aren't perfectly straight but it isn't too visible with the interior in it. I'm extremely happy with the chute and mount and how it came out, I decided last minute to add it, and I'm happy I did. I was scrolling through my reference pictures for this thing and I was reminded about the battery on/off switch and to be honest, the total time it took to fabricate it and paint it was about 10 minutes. In less than 20 minutes it was complete and on the car. It's something I have somehow never thought to add before, but now I'll be making them frequently :)

Al, I'm working on changing my mindset, rather than looking at each thing wrong in each individual part, looking at everything together seems to be working

Thanks John, I'm taking in every word of your advice, like my reply to Al, I'm working on changing how I look at things on my build, I know there's things that can be improved but that will take time as my skill increases.

Turning out killer. Are you going to paint the rear window trim?

Fred, I can not THANK YOU enough for pointing this out, I don't know how I totally missed the front and rear window trim, but after I finish this I'll go pop the windows out and mask the trim off, it will be painted

just keep building.... love um all !!!

Al, I'll have an update real soon, it's real close to being finished now.

You have done an excellent job so far on the LX. Far better than I could do at your age.

Thanks mike, it's good to know that I'm doing well for my age!

I'm getting this thing mostly wrapped up, soon it will be final assembly.

I found a parts box steering wheel that I attempted to make a Grant wheel by painting it and cutting a dart GTS decal

I scratch built an MSD 6 box and used a slixx decal, it will get wiring later

I also added the down tubes connecting the cage to the chassis in the engine bay

The back end of the car is finished, all that is needed is a simpson/deist decal on the chute

The seats are done, they are ready for paint and a harness

Lastly, I mocked everything up to see how it's looking

You can also see that the trim is now painted, the back doesn't look very good but some cleaner wax should clean up the lines

Now that is looking hot!! How did you make the silver chute line hanging down?

It's some small gauge wire with part wrapped in BMF and the other part painted, I think it looks great

lookin sharp, Id take lil bend out of the chute release cable, those things dont hold a bend very well. Looks good either way man

Thank you for the input, after reading it I went out and looked at my dad's vega. His chute mount has a bracket that the cable is zip tied to, I will go fix this on the mustang

Thank you Stan, the MSD box is just some evergreen square rod that I cut in my mitre box and painted, it's a fast simple detail that adds a lot to the build
