charlie8575 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Global Blue is a nice choice. Sort of a turquoise-aqua color, nice choice for this build. Charlie Larkin
Agent G Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Carl - As long as you are pleased I am happy. Danno - You know me, I cannot leave anything alone. Michael -Thank you! Charlie - I'm trying to replicate USAF "Strato Blue" on a Mustang. I thought this would be ok from the can. It wasn't, but when I saw it on another car I painted, I thought it would be perfect for this one. Apparently I was right! Long week ahead so stay tuned. G
Agent G Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Between all the things happening here in Vegas and my nephew visiting, not a lot has been accomplished. Last night and this morning I completed the Ardun flattie. This is where I left it last night. I used Tamiya "Smoke", highly thinned with their acrylic thinner as a wash on the manifold. Using an acrylic ensured I wouldn't fudge up the enamel base paint. As of right now I'm calling the engine complete. I built the distributor from styrene tube and sheet. I used 28 ga floral wire for the plugs and homade coil, which is styrene rod drilled out. G
bpletcher55 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 nice looking motor ,should power a 32 just fine ,
Agent G Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 Thank you gentlemen. When it comes to hot rods I like my motors out there in the breeze so to speak. That's why I put a lot of time into them. I will detail an interior as well even in a coupe. Here's where it's at today. I used the kit pedals and made an accelerator from wire and a scrap of plastic. I took sprue and rod and constructed a "piston" topped shift lever. These shots give you a good look at the texture paint I used for carpet. I like it and will be using this more often now. G
rustybill1960 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) I must agree with your choice of "carpeting" material, Excellent! I believe I will give it a try myself. Thank You Your detailing of the flathead carburation is top notch too! I had that Ford pick up in my hands the other day, but, opted for another kit I think I will have to get that kit and make a resin casting of the engine now. As I have several kits that would look very nice with that engine in it. Thank You again I am wondering as to Your choice of rims and rubber? Looking forward to more of this build Thank You for sharing with Us Later Russ Edited June 14, 2014 by rustybill1960
Agent G Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Thank you gentlemen. Russell I'm going with steel wheels, small Ford hubcaps and tall skinny tires for a period look. I's definately a modern rod with a vintage look. G
Harry P. Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Looks very good so far. The engine detailing is top-notch.
slusher Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I must say you do really good work G, great looking engine...
Agent G Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 I think it needs a turret! I got a turret for ya, right here. Harry, Carl, Thank You! Tom you and Danno go to your room. G
Agent G Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Slow and steady progress on this one. I scratchbuilt the accelerator pedal, shifter and boot. Buttoned it up and am pleased with the result. G
TFchronos Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Very nice work, top notch detailing on the engine!
charlie8575 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't build rods myself, really, but I do like this. Very nice job on this, Wayne. Charlie Larkin
