Metalmad Posted July 22, 2015 Author Posted July 22, 2015 Hello Everyone , I have been on a much needed vacation & now back on the bench when I have the time to work on the Shelby which now I have started the mock up of how the exhaust will run from the headers and then cross flow the pipes into a x then out to the sides in front of the rear wheels. So as soon as I have it completely mocked up which I'm shooting for by the end of the weekend I will post up pictures.
Metalmad Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 Hello Everyone, I have been busy with life in general so I have not had much bench time on the Shelby build so here is a small update on her. I have the exhaust mocked up & the cross over pipe glued in place and when the glued has cured I will remove the tape & start routing the exhaust pipes and then glue in the mufflers. This is the third time at scratch building the exhaust system so I think I'm finally happy with how its turning out plus I have finished the new shock tower brace which this is also the third one that I have scratch built and I have also scratch built a throttle body to attach to the super charger but I still have a few details I want to add to it before finally assembly of the engine. I hoping to get this build finished in time to show in Pomona Nov 8 which our club The Model Car Guys have put together at the NHRA Museum.
John Teresi Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Seth......this is SWEET.......looking good.....I can`t wait to see this one

djmcguire Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 What paint did you use for the nitrous bottle? It looks exactly like the blue anodized NOS bottles...
Metalmad Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Daniel the paint is Dupli Color Metalcast which I purchased at O'Reilly's Auto Parts it comes in blue , red and I think purple. The best way to use it is to make sure the part your painting is painted silver first or if it is chrome just spray the Dupli Color over it and I also cleared it after I applied the decal.

Thanks for the confirmation.Dan
Metalmad Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 Well Everyone, I have finished the scratch built exhaust system which still needs to be cleaned up so now I'm debating on if I should scratch build some exhaust tips which I'm leaning towards doing but I need to research my idea on how I want them to look and to look realistically functional. Thanks For Checking In !
Metalmad Posted September 21, 2015 Author Posted September 21, 2015 Hello Everyone, Small update which is that I have finished the exhaust system & I also had to modify the steering linkages and the swaybar that ran underneath the oil pan so the engine would sit in place. I still need to clan up the areas where I have modified the linkages & sway bar which I will do when the glue has cured. Thanks For Looking !
mod3l Lover Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Very cool indeed!! Can you just imagine whatthe sound of that system would be like? You certainly would never be able to sneak up onanybody with that car! Keep up the great work, David S.
Metalmad Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 Thank you all for the encouraging comments !Small update which is that I have started scratch building the brake line junction for the the rear hard line and for the the front where the hard line will split to the front calipers and I'm also adding some engine detail.
Metalmad Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) I just finished adding the throttle by wire control to the scratch built intake , finished detailing the K&N air filter , finished the rear junction for the rear brake line & is attached to rear axle and now working on scratch building the front brake line junctions. Edited October 11, 2015 by Metalmad
Metalmad Posted October 12, 2015 Author Posted October 12, 2015 It looks like I will add a little black wash to the air filter to give it a little more realism and depth. I'm also doing a little research on the engine to see what I other sensors & electric components that are visible on the engine. I will do my best to replicate most of them which means I will be scratch building them and then installing them in the correct places without going out of my comfort zone. Thank You All For The Encouraging Comments !
Metalmad Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) Hello Everyone , I have finished scratch building the front left and right side brake line brackets & they have been painted & installed to the frame rails & also finished scratch building the front junctions for the brake lines and they have also been painted. I also have finally painted the rims & supercharger with Alclad today but not to sure on the out come of how they look so next will be to start assembling the motor with the parts that I have scratch built to make it look a little more realistic. Thanks For Looking ! Edited November 2, 2015 by Metalmad

Metalmad Posted November 3, 2015 Author Posted November 3, 2015 Thank you Art ! I will probably won't get her done for Sunday since I have not laid down the paint on the body yet but I may bring it as a work in progress though.
