cobraman Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) This will be my next project. You may have seen the 66 resin Biscayne I built for a friend not long ago. Well, he liked it so much I decided to try and build a replica of his very first car. It was a dark blue with light blue interior 64 Impala SS. It was in good condition and he paid 250.00 for it. That was over 40 years ago, I think it was in 71 or 72. Anyway, he does not have any photos of it and can not recall everything about it. Buckets and auto on the floor and colors we know but neither of us can remember what the wheels were. he thinks Cragers but is not sure. I don't remember and don't have a clue. I will try and recreate it the best I can and since he can't remember everything he can't say it's wrong. : ) Edited June 11, 2014 by cobraman
superbike-shaun Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Okay Ray, way to go, see I know if just a few members of the public saw your modelbuilding ability, they all will want you to build them a model(lol) SHaun.s
slusher Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Looking forward to seeing your build on this Ray, was it still a factory color..?
cobraman Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 Factory color as far as we knew but no codes for the paint so a simple dark blue will have to be good enough.
Swifster Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Auto Color Library (.com) The color is Daytona Blue.
slusher Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Nice progress Ray, everything looks great pictured.
charlie8575 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 What did you use for the interior paint, Ray? It looks pretty good. I found Pontiac Engine Blue was a pretty good match for the light metallic blue paint on the interior parts. Charlie Larkin
cobraman Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Thanks guys. I used a Duplicolor engine paint on the interior. I chose it because the color was close to what I wanted. Wasn't sure how it would work because I never tried it before but it worked fine.
cobraman Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Couple more progress pics. Loose shifter has been fixed.
cobraman Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Thanks James. Don't know why my pics got screwed up.
cobraman Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 Thanks Carl. I have been having some trouble with this one but it's not the kits fault. I was trying to rush it which is never a good idea. I wanted to ship it out tomorrow but that's not going to happen.
cobraman Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 Car is finished and photos will be in the "Under Glass " section soon if interested.
